Dan Rather Instagram – My own personal recollections and remembrances include meeting with him in his home the day he was released from prison. I then did an on camera interview with him the next day. The most vivid memory is how – with every reason to be otherwise — he was filled with forgiveness.  Given what he had been through — more than a quarter of a century of his life in prison — to find him filled with forgiveness for his captors, remains impressive to this day. If there was any sense of revenge in the man – and I don’t think there was – it was in no way apparent. He seemed genuinely determined to use his own sense of forgiveness for the good of his fellow countrymen, of all races. And in the months and years that followed, he proceeded to do so.
