Slovenia is one of the most underrated counties in Europe for tourism, especially compared to its more popular neighbours, Italy, Austria, and such. I stayed in the capital, Ljubljana for a week, and I have to say it’s one of the most stunning places I’ve been to(and I have travelled quite a lot)
It’s got the mountains, the beaches, quaint little towns, forests, snow, an enchanting night life in the capital, and so much more.
If you’re looking for a gorgeous European country which is unexplored, put slovenia on top of your list. 🙂
One of my favourite cities, Florence ❤️
So one of my acquaintances sent me this photograph on the right, of an illustration, which he said he randomly spotted on a wall in Anjuna, Goa, and said “looked a lot like me”. The illustration is actually of a photograph from the scarlet window clicked by @wine_stone . So stoked to see this!
Travelling solo is something most people I know shy away from. They fear it’ll be difficult, might be unsafe, “why to travel alone when you can take a friend or boyfriend with you?”, or the biggest fear or all- what if it gets incredibly lonely? Well, let me tell you, there will be moments of extreme loneliness and also moments of extreme anxiety. But it’ll all be worth it and HOW.
I’ve been wanting to travel solo to Europe for a while now. But indian parents, you know. Not the easiest task convincing them to send their daughter alone.
So this time, when I went to Slovenia for work, I decided to stay back in Italy for a while, all by myself.
There are adventurous travellers and then there are irresponsible travellers. I fall in the latter category. I’ve missed trains, almost slept on the streets in a small Italian town because I missed the last bus back to Florence, made last minute whimsical plans without thinking rationally, and gotten stuck in places, surrounded by people who don’t understand a word of English , and a lot more other things which I cannot divulge here, because otherwise my mom might read it and kill me.
I wish I had more time, but I didn’t. So I made the most of what I did, and loved every minute of it. When you’re travelling in an alien country alone, your mood graph is all over the place. You’re anxious, excited, lonely, happy, freedom(!!!!), paranoid, ecstatic. It’s like you’re PMSing. But it’s so worth it.
Hopefully this is one of the firsts of my many more solo travel trips to come 🎈

One of the highlights of my solo Europe travel, this.
Lying down in the main town square of Siena(a place I’ve craved to visit since having seen it in so many films and photographs), an extremely old little charming town in Tuscany. Watching the bell tower, the hustle of tourists all around me, enjoying some sun in the chilly breeze, taking a short nap literally in the middle of the streets. Such a lovely afternoon this was ♥️ Siena, Italy
