Following the postponement of the release of 2.0, the focus shifted to the Rajini- Ranjith movie which will kick start in the month of May. Touted to be a Gangster flick based in Mumbai, the movie will be made under the banner of Dhanush’s Wunderbar Studios.
Rumours had it that the character of Rajinikanth will be based on Tamil don Sultan Mirza also called as Haji Mastan who was based in Mumbai. Born in Tamil Nadu, this don was associated with Karim Lala and Varadharajan Mudhaliar. The rumours of Rajinikanth playing Haji Mastan soon ruled the internet since the Haji Mastan is known for his style quotient which is very much relatable with Rajinikanth’s persona.
Earlier it was also rumoured that the movie will be a spin off to the 2016 hit movie Kabali. But Ranjith denied the rumours and made clear that the new movie will have no connections with Kabali.
When we contacted the makers of the movie they brushed away the rumours stating that the Rajinikanth’s character is not based out of Haji Mastan. The movie will go on floors from the month of May said the team.
With the Rajinikanth’s upcoming 2.0 pushed further from its original release date, Superstar will have two movies releasing in the year 2018. Rajinikanth will have 2.0 releasing in early 2018 and Rajini Ranjith movie will be releasing later the same year.
It is said that the post production works of 2.0 are taking place in full swing with the VFX being handled by a US based Studio.
