Kali Hawk Instagram – 😔To say that I loved #CharlieMurphy would do such a disservice to the level of warmth and #friendship he inspired. 🙇🏻I had grown up watching him in #tv and #movies so when I finally got to work with him in #BlackJesus I was super excited. 🙈I actually told him I had a #crush on him when I was younger bcuz he always played these #angry excitable characters, but they somehow seemed so #happy inside lol 🤔It was through working with him and becoming his #friend that I learned it really takes a happy man to be able to play the hostility of his most beloved roles because that’s what makes the audience #love those characters so much. Through his #work we saw his #humor but we also really saw his #heart 💓😯Comedy is such a rough business, and Charlie was a tough ass guy 🙆🏽but he was a #gentleman even in his toughness. He commanded #respect among crowds and amongst his peers in the silent way that only a really #strong man can. I’ve seen assholes turn into better people just because Charlie Murphy entered the room. 😂They literally would change their posture and try to get their shit together because they knew even his presence didn’t allow for any bullshit at all lol 😏Charlie was a man of #integrity and a man with guts. It takes guts to love everyone the way he did, to face the hard #NYC life from which he came, to stand beside his mega #famous brother 😎yet always remaining 100% solidified in his own identity #value and worth. He was an asset to so many, but in a way that never challenged the #spotlight, instead he beckoned it to him with that #charisma his fans have come to know so well. 📞👀The first thing I wanted to do when I heard he’d passed was give him a call, and then I had to face that I can’t do that anymore. 😩I loved him so much I used to shout his first and last name from afar every time I saw him. I know I’m not the only person who does that, but it still felt like a #special thing… 🙌🏽My heart goes out to everyone who loved him and will continue to shout his name. May we shout for love, may we shout for the laughs, and for the friend we will always remember. #RIP
