A seven year itchy flashback to filming one of my favourite professional experiences #OhMyGold
Made some lifelong bonds during this long and demanding shoot (everyone fantasizes about their own travel series but it is TOUGH work) The filming also represented my first foray back in front of the camera post my stem cell and cancer treatment. I had a short, curly chemo cut and I was soaking in every sparkly moment of being alive on this magnificent planet and singing it back to my bones π

These young lads have a skill that will soon die if we don’t learn to cherish our craftspeople and ensure they have reason to choose to make craft their living

The paper design is what they are making blocks for – this design needs seven individual blocks, first carved with immense skill and then printed with minute precision with seven overlays in the same space. The blocks are made of either Indian teak (for the fine detail) or a desert wood called royda (for the filling or background)
