Reminder to self: ‘We are our ancestor’s wildest dreams come true.’ There is a story of a Princess from Ghana 🇬🇭 who decided to board a Colonizer’s ship by will during the times of slavery, to sail to Jamaica 🇯🇲 to set her people free. Her name is Nanny of the Maroons. I think of her most often when I’m faced with some kind of adversity. She answered the call to become something greater than history was willing to write. The most logical choice was not for her to stand aside and look, but to board that merchant ship with the bottomless pit and fight. One day, our lives too will become a story, a figment of someone’s imagination. But today, I will continue to Right my Story in small and big ways. We are not limited to pen and paper. We exist now, and we can write the future. Our ancestors have fought many battles to afford us many mercies within these times. Let us not be negligent to the capacity of our collective abilities. Our imagination is what defines our Image in Nation. Inform yourself, and keep evolving. We all play an important role. The Mission remains the same, to empower humanity and be Love by every means necessary. The Earth is what we have. Reminder to self: Celebrate yourself! I was recently in a reasoning with a close bredren about my feelings towards deciding to start acting again after occupying the stage as an activist for the past couple of years. He listened and then said to me, ‘I was just telling Daddy about your plans and he just said Donisha is such a brave girl.’ I smiled courteously and said Give Thanks. I was humbled by the sentiment, but also curious about the why. I started to think of all the reasons why I was such a brave girl. It was overwhelming, to remember of all the moments that shattered pieces of my soul to carve me into this beautiful, intense, complex, amazing, humble, kind, insightful, loving, rebellious, bold, passionate, sensitive, creative, graceful human being. I cried a little inside. Not because I was sad… because Maya Angelou was right. Still we rise, we rise, we rise. Youths from the Haile Selassie High School work Together to clean up their school environment. On Dec 1&2 #wewillrizetogether @chakabars @chronixxmusic @bobmarleyfoundation @manifesto_ja @dsejamaica @recyclingpartners @wisynco and so many others will come together to support the Haile Selassie High School Eco Day. This will be our first initiative of the campaign, led by the environment club. The aim is to bring awareness to the students and wider community about Healing Earth, and our role in protecting her. We will also have Workshops and talk back sessions with the students to motivate them before we work together to construct a recycling center and expand the organic farm. Interested in volunteering? People power, when we work together it makes things a little easier. @chronixxmusic and @chakabars recently visited the Haile Selassie High School in Kingston to continue assessments and interviews with teachers and students to see how we can be help to renovate the physical infrastructure and bring support for the intellectual and social experience of these students. Our first initiative is on Dec 1 in support of the school’s eco-club, we will be helping to set up a recycling Center and beautify the compound in addition to a series of self love and earth healing workshops. After a full day of One Love in Action at Haile Selassie High School, we will forward to Chronixx concert and have some more upful vibes. We are learning and growing as we continue to collaborate in creating new models of co-existence. Tomorrow we will join the Environment club in their Eco Day call to action from 1pm -5pm at the school 16-24 Payne Ave. @360cycleja Will guide us on how to build a Recycling Cage using recycled materials.
