Happy Anniversary honey 💕 we both got the day of our ceremony wrong so we’re equally the worst and I couldn’t be happier
It’s August 1st! Today’s ~look~ is the T-shirt I wore to the hospital when we had Clarke and some of Sam’s sweatpants. I wanted day 1 to reflect what I’ve been wearing every day since we had a baby. Sam accused me of wanting a new phone so I can take better pictures 😂 Wowowow
Day 10! We skipped a day oops! Sunday is our potluck BBQ so after my stream Sam and I cleaned up the back garden (he refused to be in the picture 😫). Some grill cleaner, five bags of bark dust and some hard work and we got everything looking tidy! Now it’s a sweaty evening watching TV, playing Monster Hunter and making our baby giggle as much as possible. Can’t wait for this heat to subside 🌞
Dattebayo~ Day 4! I almost never blow dry my hair but when I do it’s on low or no heat and I take my time…not today my dudes! I cranked that sucker up because every time I walked away to dry it, Clarke had a fit LOL why? I dunno but it made a long process even longer so high heat and full blast it is! Everyone seems to think she might be teething so I’m buckling up for that. I intended on wearing the plaid shirt for the photo but it’s just so hot…I miss being able to wear long sleeves and scarves every day. Happy Saturday everyone!
She wanted to hold my hand…I guess I don’t mind💕 FYI I’m gonna try a picture a day challenge for myself during August. Something OOTD-ish to break myself of the “I’m a mom and I’ve worn these same sweatpants all week what even are showers” cycle. Let’s kick Instagram back into gear! 🙌🏻
Day 15?? Clarke and I are both losing hair. It’s very normal post partum, although I didn’t get to have luxurious thick hair while pregnant booo. Clarke’s hair is accidentally mohawking and I’m a fan. We bought our first “mommy and me” items: matching sunglasses. Poor thing is going on walks with me every other day and no amount of shaders make the sun dim enough for her poor little peepers so I got us sick shades. Naturally, she immediately flung them off her face so uh whoops? The walks have been so nice as an excuse to leave the house when it’s a bit cooler but the process to get her ready to go keeps adding more and more things. Poor girl. It’s not her fault she’s got brand new eyes and skin 🙈
The “Love A Latte” shirt on @dodgercoffee is only up for a couple more days! Definitely grab one before the end of the month 👀

Day 12! “You want to start at 1 o’clock?” Sam asked while we rode the Target elevator. I had forgotten a couple of things and dragged him out of bed at 8 AM. “Yeah! It’s a BBQ! 1 o’clock makes sense right?…” Sam and I have been talking about having a BBQ in our backyard ever since we moved in. The pool and deck here is incredible and we’ve never used it properly aside from beating the heat in the water (WHICH IS A VERY VALID USE) but today we finally had a bunch of good friends over, got the grill working and hosted a party. It was really really fun AND I might add, the perfect time of day. Clarke even got to swim a bit with Daddy, which was precious. Everyone talked about what a good baby she was. I agreed but yknow…I’m a little biased 😙

Day 5! “Why didn’t I grab a smaller brush?” I muttered to myself while splattering paint on the end table in irritation. For whatever reason these drawers don’t come out of this end table so I’m having to paint them while they’re inside the thing. It’s slow but it’s a fun project and managing to get Clarke to sleep in another room makes a lot of difference. She’s been getting overtired and upset lately during the day. I’ve found that I have a lot of guilt while trying to get her to sleep. It’s like I’m saying “please go to sleep so I don’t have to deal with you”…but if she’s up for too long, she doesn’t know how to fix it. She doesn’t know that she’s tired or that she needs to sleep. She just knows that something is WRONG and she’s UPSET so if my job is to help her sleep and be happier, there shouldn’t be any guilt…and if I get to use that time on nice projects like this, I’ll take advantage more often 🍋
Watson is such a princess 😂💛 people have asked how we like our @lullbed so I figured I would give an update! (Full disclosure: our bed was sent to us last year in exchange for a little video review) We’ve loved this bed! Really comfortable and no sagging in our normal sleeping spots. They come to your doorstep all rolled up so it was really convenient getting it up the stairs. I even got it into our bed frame easily by myself! If you’ve ever looked at the (many) rolled up foam mattresses and wondered if they hold up, the Lull one has treated us great! 👌🏻
Feeling really homesick for our farm. I think it’s normal to want to be somewhere comforting when you’re about to do something scary like have a kid 💕 My cousin sent a bunch of pictures and this isn’t the prettiest one but it’s the one that reminds me of being lost and happy when I was young. Baby Thorne is gonna have a really different childhood but I hope she learns to love getting lost like I did 🍂
Made some tester donuts! They’re not glazed but I really like the flavor on their own. Great first go at it! 👍🏻
Day 7! “She loves this thing. You can serenade her with it,” Sam said as he plucked around absently earlier today. Clarke seems to love the sound of the ukulele so tonight I sat and learned Mary Had A Little Lamb. My dad has played guitar since he was very little and has always felt negatively toward learning with tabs. For him, music is an art that deserves the full breadth of your attention and to skip learning the chords is a tragedy…but hopefully he’ll forgive me for learning a couple songs the easy way at the beginning to play for Clarke while she drifts off to sleep 🌙
Day 8! What was I doing this time a couple years ago? I went to look back and realized I was in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of old friends that I almost never see. I remember when we were out there sleeping under the stars and my face was being eaten alive by bugs, Nicole said “man, none of us have had kids yet. That’s wild.” I’m officially the first one to bring a baby into the family. I hope they all get to meet her someday 🍂 I realize this TOTALLY doesn’t count as taking a picture for today but the day got away from me haha

Day 19 (if we’re going by days of the month…)! I remember sitting at a campsite with a friend a long time ago. The air was humid and salty but I felt really relaxed. My dad and I used to take yearly trips to the beach and she happened to be there with her family. “Were you really mad earlier? I saw you walking with your dad and thought you were angry about something.” Huh? I definitely hadn’t been upset about anything…but as I got older I heard this identical sentiment from more friends. “I drove by you when you were on a walk and you looked furious” “I hope you’re doing okay! I saw you pacing outside and the look on your face had me worried!”…so I guess I just look angry when I walk…and lately I’ve been walking A LOT. Clarke and I are going on walks almost daily at this point. It feels nice to get outside and she’s excited when we get ready to go…and yet every time I pass a neighbor or see someone else on a walk I think “I hope I don’t look mad while walking with my baby” LOL. I don’t know why but I used to like that I seemed angry and unapproachable while walking since it’s so contrary to my character…but now I kind of hope I give off more of a happy mom vibe while walking with my kid. In the end, nobody else really matters honestly. As long as she starts to understand that this is a fun activity we do together and she enjoys it Im Happy 🌼
Being home so much has made me want to do ALL the projects! I’m nesting hard over here 😂 Finally started this one! I got these chairs on Craig’s List a few years back and while I still like them, they’ve been in dire need of reupholstery. Sam said he liked them, which is the real victory as I’ve made yet another thing in the House orange 😂 Happy Sunday!
