Juuuuust in case I’ve been giving off the impression that parenthood is all butterflies and cherubic, sweet smelling, chirping mini-mes, here’s a picture of me perfecting my hands-free chin bottle feed a few months ago in #Tbilisi so I can FaceTime my husband, check the currency in my wallet, take a selfie and type an entire chapter of my book without neglecting my child. I know, I forgot about combing my hair. I’m saving up for family therapy now. 😜

My girls need to know that the qualities of the goddess are within them. Hope to ensure they are exposed to all traditions and cultures and find their own meaningful way to settle the soul’s questions…sort of like mama.
So you know when you feel self conscious in your skin, when you criticize yourself with probing fingers, pulling at imaginary pockets of fat, never satisfied? You know that feeling? And then, five years later, you look at a picture of yourself taken on the day you thought you should have spent more time at the gym, and think…I was so cute. I was lovely. I was perfect- why didn’t I know it? (Like this picture taken five years ago) And then you look down at yourself, your current avatar and forget to cherish it as another expression of perfection in this season of life? I do that. I know the wisdom that guides us beyond this brutal self-critique into self- love and I abide there now for longer periods, but I also fall back into old habits as well.
Cherish yourself. All your precious scars. And help your friends to recognize their preciousness. Isn’t life just that- warming each other’s tired hearts and enthusing in everything that buds? Let’s hold and support each other more. God knows the world makes a habit of sizing us up and cutting us down.

The ritual is beautiful. Basically it’s offering puja to young girls (kumaris), performing aarti for them and offering bhog at the end. How relevant it is today.
