Here’s a picture of little Janu rehearsing her heart out – the lyrics of “Kannan Vanthu Paadukindraan.” I distinctly remember practicing hard for this one. For the whirlwind pace of the song, the complexity of it’s lyrics kept me on the hook throughout.
But frankly speaking, I gave my best for this piece. :x) credits to @n_aravin who adeptly steered the run throughs with me.
All amidst the constant dread to not seem like a stage singer and retain the innocence of her character.

I was just 17 when I heard the script of ’96. Little did I know that I was listening to the words of one of the greatest storytellers of the time, C Prem Kumar.
Yes, I am one of your closest buddy’s niece but you took me in like your own. Never once failing to guarantee my comfort levels, at the same time challenging my potential to such a point that helped me discover qualities in me that I never knew existed before.
Every girl has a little Janu inside of them – who will forever long for that one person in her life – having encountered innumerable hardships and pain and yet facing life with her head held high – all with a gobbet of kindness in her persona.
Each day on spot, as I was busy cowering between my internal conflicts and absorbing the multitudes of the filmmaking process – whether or not I have it within me to fill the phenomenal actor’s (Trisha Krishnan) shoes – it is your satisfied grin and reassuring words that kept me going.
Sir, today you have created this work of art – famed as one of the most beautiful and dignified love stories ever made. You amplified whatever modest talent I did have to the highest peak, helping me give my best for this film. No amount of gratitude will ever suffice sir.
