I am here today, standing up for our children, for our sisters and brothers, for all victims of sexual assault, for myself. I came in protest of the judicial ruling of a man who’s name is protected by the court. After being found guilty of sexually assaulting two teenage girls on separate occasions, the “appropriate” sentence was determined to be two weeks of jail time. One of his victims was hospitalized and left in critical condition. Her physical rehabilitation took far longer than the time he will serve, let alone the emotional recovery that will last a lifetime. My heart is broken. I cannot believe this happened in my community. I cannot believe how much our judicial system has failed to protect our youth and failed to support survivors of sexual assault.
If you share my opinion: that the judicial system should not allow people with a clear bias in favor of violent offenders to determine our fates, please sign the petition to have Judge Paul Meyers removed from his position. I have posted the link in my bio. I encourage you to do your own research into Judge Meyer’s career and rulings. I ask that you please do not sign the petition based off my account alone. I do not believe in asserting power over someone’s life in a way that could negatively affect their future without merit.
