Thanks for all the kind birthday wishes! To make myself feel especially old, I dredged up some old photos. One is a photo booth picture that I used for my first press pass. Another is me videotaping at a wedding in Vietnam in 1991, when I was going to school there. The last photo is by #dianearbus, who stayed at our house taking pictures of me and my brother for a project she was working on (i know, i know, @bravoandy, very relatable.)

Last time I saw Tim, i joked that i couldn’t show anyone this photograph because i look like a tool, and it is so well framed, people would think it was photoshopped. It wasn’t. We’d just gotten off that helicopter and he suddenly told me to stop. Then he snapped the picture. Tim was killed in Misrata, Libya, April 20, 2011. He was just 40. A great journalist and a wonderful human being.
Nothing like starting the week with a haircut and a straight razor shave by Eric, a great barber @neighborhoodbarbers. Though i do always think for a moment that someone is going to come in and slit my throat. I think I’ve watched the Godfather too much.
Big Bird came to help me host the official opening of @hudsonyards in NYC. A photographer kept shouting “Bird, look this way!” I thought Mr. Bird would be more appropriate, or Big, but Big Bird seems cool with it. He is very upbeat!
