It also helped having new mom's around me for support, but there were many who didn't understand why I insisted on feeding my child. I heard things like - oh he's not getting nourishment, he will become clingy and needy etc etc. Sadly in our country the lack of amenities and facilities decides where you can take your child comfortably or not. Forget feeding rooms, most public places ; even the biggest Toy store chain; don't have a changing table. It’s #worldbreastfeedingweek and I’m so glad to even share my journey! .
.
My breast feeding journey has been a super long, tough, exhausting, calming and crazy all together. .
With four kids.. giving into each ones special needs, all my experiences were different. 11 years ago. Breast feeding almost felt like taboo. I remember sitting and feeding my baby anywhere and had people stare at me if I did that in public. Why are we ashamed to feed our own child?? Why do people look at us with such shock? .
.
11 years and 4 babies later, things have progressed. Which I’m happy about for us moms. To even voice and have an opinion about it and have a platform like this to talk about. .thankyou @nehadhupia @freedomtofeed for raising such a platform!! .
I remember with each baby. After my 4th c-section and the post traumatic pain I went through I have slept in hospital beds where I literally lay in exhaustion and the nurses have come every two hourly to feed the baby because I dint have the strength to even sit up and feed. Felt like a cow! But just the feel and touch of my baby on me was enough to pull through each day. .
.
Breast feeding is honestly one of the best bonds you could have with your child. I always remember my husband @hirenkakad asking me. What does it feel like?? In amazement. And I’d say it’s magical. The very fact that you’re the only source of nutrition for your baby. Raises the bar for every mother out there. .
.

It’s lunch time Momma, quit posing for pictures!!! •
Breastfeeding memories surfacing thanks to the ongoing #worldbreastfeedingweek. •
We have been speaking at @Momspresso about how the responsibility to support breastfeeding mothers lies with all of us and all that is needed is some respect and consideration, a helpful hand and simple facilities like Breastfeeding rooms. It is heartening to see the cause being taken up by celebrities like @nehadhupia , a new mum herself, through her initiative #freedomtofeed. •
I have nursed my babies in all kinds of public places, but always felt some amount of awkwardness. The weirdest was in a movie hall – we had to take her with us that evening, there was no choice. But when the time came to feed, she couldn’t find me in the dark and I couldn’t get her to latch on properly…and she was bawling. People were staring at us, of course and finally we had to switch on the flashlight on the phone to get both of us to ‘find each other’. So if we were not attracting enough attention before, think of what happened with a spotlight!! Can’t forget that day – I even remember the movie – Main Hoon Na 😄
