When Kabir was born, the one thing I was certain of was that I would want to breastfeed my baby. On our second day in the hospital when the doctor prescribed formula I was heartbroken. Not that there is anything wrong with giving your child formula but I really wanted to feed him my milk. This was just one bump in our journey which went on for two years of exclusively breastfeeding him. Thanks to my husband @pk100480 support, I never felt like I had to stay locked up inside and couldn’t do what I wanted because I wouldn’t be able to feed Kabir. I would put on my feeding cape and like a Superhero I would carry on with my agenda. It also helped having new mom’s around me for support, but there were many who didn’t understand why I insisted on feeding my child. I heard things like – oh he’s not getting nourishment, he will become clingy and needy etc etc. Sadly in our country the lack of amenities and facilities decides where you can take your child comfortably or not. Forget feeding rooms, most public places ; even the biggest Toy store chain; don’t have a changing table. I’m glad people like @nehadhupia are starting the dialogue #FreedomToFeed in mainstream media. #lilkabir #breastfeedingmom #mybodymychoice #goldenliquid
