Her story. Her words. 👇 When I was in high school.. I went to my music class. During my music class one of the boys pulled a prank on me, in which as I went to sit in my chair..he pulled the chair away, so I hit the floor. Laughing it off at the time even though it hurt…after a few days I started to have alot of back pain, thinking maybe I was bruised…I carried on…days turned to weeks…& it got to the point I couldn’t walk to school, I couldn’t walk from class to class. I went to hospital to find the “prank” had caused me to slip a disc in my spine..which has also effected my nerves and everything in my spine…by this point I was basically unable to walk at all…surgery was scheduled…I eventually had spinal surgery (at the time I was the youngest person in the UK to have this surgery) & they removed some of the disc in my spine. Recovery was long & I was wheelchair bound for about a year in total, still unable to walk & attending a school which looking back was not fit for a wheelchair. I was by that point having regular physio therapy as due to the pain I had been in my body had changed shape to over compensate for the pain…my back was bent forward and my hip was push out sideways…..MONTHS of physio therapy took place while also trying to walk again basically. During this time I had many horrible comments thrown at me. I remember wondering if I would ever recover. I think it was the hardest time of my life. I remember shortly after my surgery I had a shower & my mum had to assist me as I was unable to stand for long periods of time…& I just remember standing screaming because I was in so much pain & scared & it was awful!! I have horrible memories of the situation. Like my mum n dad standing in the doctor office with me being told I needed surgery…& I remember looking at my dad who looked so scared. I was only about 14. But my family and my b/f Robynne were what got me through. The boy who pulled the prank on me… never got any discipline for what he did & I had to face him every day when I returned to school which was just horrendous. Luckily I’m okay, I still don’t have a strong back but I am so thankful I can walk and live a normal life
