The future depends on what you do TODAY. – Mahatma Gandhi.

An Insta- Detox Story
My Truth.
A few weeks ago I felt quite claustrophobic on Instagram. It was increasingly getting filled with shallow, temporary, inconsequential, fake, negative noise and messaging and it felt heavy and dense. While there were certainly positive rays of light that so often can put a smile on your face, there were equal or more of the opposite. I felt sad and quite literally like I was wasting my time. Like I was stuck in an episode of Black Mirror. And all that foreshadowing of a disconnected future starting seeming real.
I started becoming acutely aware of young kids and adults experiencing beautiful destinations in the world only through the limited lens of their cellphones. All for the ‘Gram’. I wanted to shake them out of their daze and remind them to stay present and use their eyes! But quickly realised it wasn’t my business! And surely as much as I hate it, I have done it too.
I started questioning if Instagram had any positive effects on humankind at all. If it gave me an joy? Quite frankly, I have always had a love- hate relationship with social media. Those who know me and maybe those who follow me can clearly see that too. So I took time off this platform for a while to do a 100% cleanse of these feelings and reasses if it made any sense to me at all and if what I put out in the world mattered, then what is it that I REALLY want to say…. We ended the last days of summer with the most glorious group of humans celebrating the birthday of a very special man @aaronpaul at an unbelievably magical place @aniprivateresorts . The salty cleansing ocean air, soul-nourishing conversations, the always picture-perfect sunsets and many rounds of @doshombres mezcal was enough reason to never want it to end! Last week was beyond epic! I have lived in the United States of America for many years now and one of my greatest desires was to take a road trip to some of the many magnificent National Parks here. I am obsessed with mountains and rivers, streams waterfalls, wildflowers, and giant trees. 100% a mountain person. A place where all that meets the eye is majestic landscapes. Trees bent into grotesque yet entirely beautiful shapes. Where there is no pressure to impress because you just can’t compete with what you are standing in front of. Reminding you how much unnecessary time we spend struggling for “permanence”, “control” and someone else’s definition of “perfection”. My heart always finds such stillness, humility, grounding, and inspiration when it collides with these unabused parts of Mother Earth.
The Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Zion National Park made me think of this… “Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean”. John Muir
Thank you @Audi for making my trip so memorable! #partner #Q8Roadtrip 📸: @coryt
An evening in London with @cartier London, United Kingdom
(Part 2 of 2)
So, In that time off some wonderful things happened:
1. I read more books.
2. I slept an undisturbed 7 to 8 hrs every night.
3. I had more time to workout meditate and plan my meals right.
4. I didn’t get headaches and motion sickness from scrolling in moving cars.
5. I was more curious about the details of the current affairs and not just headlines.
6. I didn’t fall into that deep dark hole that starts with a photo of your bestie on a holiday and a wasted hour later ends up on an account of cute golden retrievers doing cute things.(although those retrievers did brighten up my day often)
7. I stopped getting drawn into ads and buying more than I needed.
8. I was a lot more clueless on who wore what, ate what, kissed who..and my gosh I am happy to be clueless again!
9. My phone battery stayed alive longer. Woohoo!
10. I now know all the hues that I might have missed that come to make Cory’s beautiful blue eyes! 😍
So here I am…Making an appearance on this platform but this time very aware of what I want to put out on it and more importantly what I certainly don’t want to take from it. I do enjoy sharing my thoughts and views, especially when they are positive and can inspire on a public platform. But I still plan on sleeping 8 hrs undisturbed every night with lowered cortisol levels. Wouldn’t trade that for blue light exposure before bedtime ever again!
I am sharing my story with you because I know there is a large majority out there who relate and if any of you are planning on going/have gone on a real insta detox or have found that using this platform meaningfully and positively, maybe even sparingly has bettered your life. Then I highly recommed it and… Congratulations!
Until next time
Love and positive vibes

Today is my sweetest Maverick’s birthday. He is one year old today and he is an absolute cutie patootie. But, it hasn’t been easy for this little champ since he came kicking and screaming into the world. On his first birthday, I want to share with all of you a message from his Mama, my darling friend @amandajanemurthy, about a condition he has been dealing with. Maverick has had Infantile Spasms and has two episodes of seizures in his little one year old life already. To call it scary and confusing for his parents is putting it lightly. They have been through a lot, as has Mav. So now on his birthday, instead of a birthday party, little Mav, his dad Anand and Amanda have decided to do something incredible to help UCLA with medical research which in turn will help other babies who have suffered from Infantile Spasms. Their dream is to make every baby be seizure free and I 100% support it.
Happy Birthday Sweet Mav! Please read the message below and checkout the gofundme link in my bio. Every little donation counts.

Please go to @amandajanemurthy or @anandmurthy learn about what Mavericks been going through. #maverickucla

Oct 11th, International Day of the Girl. My long time partner @girlrising and my new and super encouraging partner @clarksshoes came together at The Wing to celebrate this day. This event was a little reminder even to myself that all the efforts you put in big or small-whether through a donation, volunteering, joining the various marches, speaking up and standing up… it will inevitably have a positive ripple effect. I feel grateful and empowered that I get to add my voice to this revolution. #InternationalDayoftheGirl

I feel so honored to have been apart of the first Social Justice Summit in Milwaukee with @nostudiosmke and my friend and collaborator John Ridley! And I’m so excited for what Nō Studios has to offer to the beautiful city of Milwaukee.
So grateful I got to interview the ever so inspiring ex-US Marine, daughter, activist, yoga teacher- @anuradhabhagwati for her memoir “Unbecoming”. I dubbed her ‘a badass brown G.I. Jane’. And with good reason! Vulnerable, brutally honest, rebellious, determined, naive, strong both physically and mentally, with unapologetic views that doesn’t spare some people or Herself either.. I highly recommend reading it. • 📷: @ilovebaliwood
And here it is…Been patiently waiting to share this wonderful campaign with Clarks I get to boast of. Would you believe it, if I told you life always comes full circle! Growing up in Bombay it was impossible in the early 2000s to find shoes that fit my precious big feet. Clarks had just come to India and it was the only brand that felt like it cared for my feet and did so quite stylishly. I was so ecstatic to not have to squeeze my feet into ill fitted shoes or wait for the cousins and aunts to travel from the West with shoes for me and my sister. So imagine my happiness and joy when Clarks called to come on board and be their brand ambassador. Yes, Yes, Yes!

Mumbai City!!! @Wild_edens_project and I have arrived, with an entire episode dedicated to my beautiful country. .
This beautiful creature, the Asian elephant, has a deeply moving story to tell. Yes, I use the word “deep” and “moving” with reason. Elephants are capable of very complex thoughts and feelings. They are extremely intelligent and have three times as many neurons as humans. They feel the widest range of emotions and are capable of incredible empathy. But these gentle giants face the threats of habitat loss and poaching at the hands of humans.
.
My hope is that with this film we generate some empathy and awareness about these and other rare and wild species that need our immediate attention and an awakened conscience. I believe it is Possible. ❤
I’m very glad to announce that “Wild Edens: South Asia” is coming! Don’t miss the chance to see some of the most remote and beautiful wilderness of India and Bangladesh! On April 27, 2019, if you’re in India, check out @natgeo for the first screening and don’t miss the full schedule on @wild_edens_project
Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower. – Hans Christian Anderson •
I’m thrilled to narrate the “Wild Edens: South Asia” documentary. The film focuses on the most vulnerable and rare species of animals and plants endangered by climate change in India and Bangladesh. As a @wild_edens_project ambassador I’m happy to share this film with you in the upcoming spring.
