As tough as it is to single down on just one, for me it would always be ‘The God of Small things’ by Arundhati Roy. It’s lush, lyrical and melancholic. Her wonderful image-rich writing makes me feel closer to my hometown Kerala, and I love how she encapsulates into words certain emotions that we feel, but are never able to phrase.
