Today with @refugees I loved meeting Yazan and his family. This 8 year old sells vegetables to support his family. They are Syrian Refugees living in the Bekaa Valley near the Syrian border in Lebanon. He has 3 brothers and sisters and has lived in very challenging conditions his whole life. His parents left during shelling in Damascus when he was 4 months old, in the middle of the night through the war zone and bribed a border guard to let them escape into Lebanon. He has been hungry, cold and at risk. He has lived in conditions I can’t imagine, Yet his smile and playfulness are so incredibly vital and beautiful. So happy I got to spend time with him and his wonderful family today.

This #WorldRefugeeDay I took the #StepWithRefugees Challenge to walk in solidarity with those who have been forced to flee.
I walked 1 mile. Downhill. @mindykaling, #LinManuelMiranda & @Trevornoah can you do it? Up for the challenge?
I felt fortunate to represent @refugees at this hearing and advocate for the millions of people whose lives have been upended by war and persecution. The bottom line is no one chooses to be a refugee. And these people all just want to go home.

Recently returned from Lebanon where UNHCR is supporting Syrian refugees like Razan and Yazan with essential items like shelter and warm blankets. Huge thanks to donor countries like 🇺🇸 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 🇳🇴 🇯🇵 for making this life-saving work possible. #withrefugees
It’s #GivingTuesday! A day created for the sole purpose of helping us make the world a better place.
.
This year—after testifying in front of Congress, visiting refugees in Lebanon and participating in many challenges to help refugees—I will be devoting my day to supporting displaced people once again. Why? Because nobody chooses to be a refugee. These INNOCENT people have lost everything and they need our help getting back on their feet!

It’s an honor to visit Congress this week with @Refugees to share the incredible stories – and the humanitarian needs – of Syrian refugees 8 years since the start of the crisis. Join me live. https://www.foreign.senate.gov/hearings/the-humanitarian-impact-of-eight-years-of-war-in-syria

They finish each others sentences…
… and they’ve been through an unimaginable journey.
Twins Razan and Yazan fled Syria with their family when they were just 4 months old. Now 8 years old – as old as the Syrian conflict – the twins spent some time with our Goodwill Ambassador, @BenStiller, when he was in Lebanon last week.

It’s #InternationalWomensDay. As men we all owe so much to women. I know I do! In addition to all the important women in my life, I want to salute Warda. She is a single mother from the rural area of Aleppo, Syria. Her city and home were ravaged by the war. She has 3 children. Warda fled to Lebanon in 2014. She worked in agriculture for some time, earning only $4 dollars a day. Her home was flooded during the recent storm in the Bekaa Valley near the Syrian border, where she lives in an informal settlement camp. She received emergency core relief items from #UNHCR like the plastic sheeting I’m holding. I spent some time with her and was able to see how focused and resilient she is as a single mother in a tough situation.
She is an example of the strong and independent women who are the core of families and workforces all over the world.

This is me waving to no one in particular and everyone in Lebanon to say thank you.
Thank you to all the Syrian refugees who shared their stories, which I’ll be sharing here over the next few days. And thanks to everyone in #Lebanon and #Beirut who were so welcoming. And thanks to everyone at @refugees who worked so hard to make it a vital and productive visit.
There are so many people in need all over the world and being able to connect with some of these wonderful families really makes it clear we all can connect on a human level, and have so much in common.

As most of you know, I’m passionate about supporting @refugees.
While traveling with UNHCR over the past 4 years, I’ve had the opportunity to meet refugees around the world and hear their stories first-hand. Every time I’m blown away by their resilience, courage and sheer will to press forward.
And, recently, right here in New York, I got to meet another incredibly inspiring refugee, also a fellow @refugees advocate and fellow (ahem) supermodel. If you don’t know her already, @adutakech is truly a force to be reckoned with.
It was amazing talking to her about her journey and what it means to be a refugee. You don’t have to be a supermodel or an actor to help refugees. Everyone has a role to play. Click the link in my bio to learn how you can help. #EveryoneCounts #WithRefugees
Good morning.
Thank you @usatodayopinion for spreading the word about #refugees. @refugees Link in bio.
I loved meeting Razan and her family. Razan’s parents were forced to flee their home in Syria when Razan and her twin brother Yazan were just 4 months old. That was 8 years ago and they’ve been existing on the bare minimum ever since. There are over 25 million people in the world who have been uprooted from their homes. Refugees are just people like you and me whose lives were interrupted by war, persecution and violence. They just want to go back home.
@refugees is helping refugee children thrive, not just survive. You can stand #WithRefugees and support them by copy + pasting this link: unh.cr/5c94f4d74

How do you explain this concept? I find it interesting the navigator wants no part of the conversation. Won’t even look up.
This is Yazan. An amazing kid I met last week in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. He’s 8 and sells vegetables to support his family. He should be in school and having a normal childhood but as a refugee from the Syrian conflict, he’s never been back to his home since he was 4 months old. His family is living in a knife’s edge trying to survive. @refugees and other organizations are helping people like until they can return to their homes, or find s new one free from violence and persecution.

I’ve known this guy for 30 years. His impish charm and razor wit have not dulled. He’s gotten even more impish and wittier. Go see @colinquinnshow before it closes Sunday, it’s therapeutic and really funny.
