Had the best Ethiopian vegetarian lunch yesterday followed by a coffee ceremony. Couldn’t help but wonder at the striking similarity between Indian vegetarian food and this.
A platter full of spicy lentils, green vegetables, cabbage, beetroot etc on a bed of gluten free ‘Injera’bread (reminded me of our yummy neer dosa), this was one lunch that I truly relished.

Fun facts:
1)The Ethiopian Calendar has 13 months and it is 7 ½ years behind the Gregorian calendar. So yes, we are all actually younger in Ethiopia;) 2)Some of the best long distance runners are from Ethiopia
3)Coffee was discovered in Kaffa, Ethiopia
4)Teff, the grain used to make the Ethiopian staple bread injera is the smallest grain in the world and is rich in calcium, phosphorous, iron, copper, aluminum, barium and thiamine and is a good source of protein, amino acids, carbohydrates and fiber. It is a great gluten-free option

Best friend in tow and a heritage walk exploring the Qutub Minar and the Iron Pillar (that doesn’t rust!), this was a Saturday eve well spent.
Have seen Dev Anand woo Nutan with ‘Dil Ka Bhanwar Kare Pukar’ (Tere Ghar Ke Saamne) inside the Minar ..hope to someday see it from inside as well.
Was pleasantly surprised to see many 🦜 at this historical site.
Was disappointed though to see plastic bottles thrown around by visitors (which @ruch_shar ended up cleaning)

Jambupura was the original name of Jammu. It was founded by Raja Jambu Lochan who ruled in the 9th century

‘Legend has it that the story of the Udupis began in the 1920s when a young boy migrated to Mumbai from his coastal village in Karnataka. Rama Nayak was 11 at the time. With a job at a restaurant, he worked his way up from chopping vegetables and making rotis to managing the kitchen. In the late 1930s, he started his own stall in Matunga, a central Mumbai locality with a strong Tamilian and Kannadiga population, selling idlis and dosas. In 1942, he opened Udupi Shri Krishna, said to be the first Udupi restaurant in the city’
