Before Lucy’s engine almost blew up in the middle of the bridge, I pretended to hold off traffic and @soultrvlr saved the day with water and a jumper. Comporta, Setubal, Portugal

This is Bob Dylan. My attempt at fostering has once again, failed. His age is unclear but what I do know about him doesn’t explain how he came to be such a loving companion. Before he came into my life by way of the incredible organization @hitlivingfoundation he was a bait dog. Used to entice fighting dogs to get in the ring and rip each other to shreds. He had scars all over his body, he cowered at anyone who approached, he wore down all his front teeth due to living in a cage and he most definitely had never seen the inside of a home. In a month, he became the most loving, gentle, calm and well mannered four legged creature I have had the great blessing to know. He is in good hands now and I’m certain my old pup Kona sent him down from the great above to keep me company in these uncharted times. I hope everyone out there is doing what they can to stay safe. Bob and I send you all a bit of love. “I know you haven’t made your mind up yet, but I would never do you wrong. I’ve known it from the moment that we met, no doubt in my mind where you belong.”

Today I am grateful for this journey. I am grateful for my legs that have and continue to take me wherever I tell them to. I am grateful for my community who always cushion my blows. I am grateful for strangers who remind me how big and beautiful the world is. I am grateful for my family who never fail to show up. I am grateful for work and for the hills and valleys it throws me. I am grateful for the almost 17 years I had with my pup who I know is shining down on me in this picture. I lost her a month ago and though the days feel empty without her, I am grateful I have the capacity to love so much that emptiness comes when it’s gone. And lastly, I am grateful to all of you who I don’t know personally, but who support me. May all of you feel lucky to be here too. Sao Miguel, Açores

If you happen to be in Los Angeles from the 18th of August through the 8th, I hope you find your way to watch me and my co star tackle the gigantic ride that is Saugerties at the Hudson Theatre. This is my first play and so far it has tested me on every level. The commitment to diving deep and leaving no stone left unturned, the dedication to repetition, the complexity of technic, the dependence on your partner and ultimately to not give up on yourself. That if you stay in something, that little voice in your head begging you to step out, has to be subdued. This has been one of the most gratifying roles I have had to date. I hope to see you there.
