‘Rest and be thankful’ is the tenderest ghost story about a nurse on the brink of collapse. As creepy as it is compassionate, it is a tale of selflessness and the spectre of sleep deprivation that haunts overworked healthcare workers (with some of the most visceral descriptions of hand-washing that I could not fully understand until now). Emma Glass @emmas_window is an NHS nurse as well as an extraordinary writer.
