Please admire the beauty of this absolutely exquisite film. Just look at these stills!!!! Each frame is a Vermeer. Each scene full of hidden glances and things unsaid. @celine_sciamma crafted an utterly devastating portrait of two women — a quiet, secret story that is rightfully SEEN through the soft warm lensing of female DP Claire Mathon. If you think much has changed since 18th century France I urge you to look again. Women have resigned themselves to their fates for much of history. I’m glad that this film gets to celebrate their resilience through the beauty of the female gaze. Please watch Portrait of a Lady on Fire. It deserves to be seen on the big screen!

What a trip. I’m in the @newyorkermag! I used to roll the mag up in my bag and read it on my daily commute as a reminder of the creative and cheeky storytelling I always wanted to see. Still shook that I’m in it now with a fancy little illustration at that! Also thanks to Alex Schwartz for confirming how incredibly basic I am with my matcha oat latte.

Portrait mode is such a cheat
One last photo from a magical trip because I’ve decided to become an influencer and get free shit #blessed

Blondes. Mine thanks to @caralangcraig 💁🏼
It’s been a long, crazy and life-changing journey to Park City. I couldn’t be more excited and goddamn proud that Dead Pigs is heading to Sundance!! I love my cast and crew. Thanks for bearing with me. ☠️🐷
Hello, beautiful
💥💥☠️🐷💥💥
This cold, rainy NY day makes me think of directing / getting rained on / looking like a prepubescent boy while standing on the roof of a house in the middle of rubble during three days of intense rain rain machines (both good and shitty ones) 80 extras two cameras crane and dolly and steadicam crying slapping (lots of slapping) singing (shit ton of singing) shouting in mandarin and English and shanghainese one very wet dog 30 pigeons that we trained for 3 months so they’d fly circles around the house one usable bathroom. I loved every minute of making Dead Pigs but those three days were unforgettable. Happy #femalefilmmakerfriday
