I love you #pachamama to the depth of my being. When my girls were 3 weeks old and mere Chia seeds, I packed them into my friend @vishakhakhetrapal car along with my nanny and we drove to #Kazbegi, a scenic spot in the Caucasus mountains of Georgia. Just so I could place my girls on the grass, have them soak in earth energy and gaze in wonder at the beauty of it all.
Deep bows this #EarthDay and every day.
Armoured up in Singapore as I go out for some essential errands. I have optimistic days, and I have days like today when a rush of anxiety bloats my veins. Pandemics are nothing new in the vast sweep of human history. Centuries before, humankind assumed the gods were angry, or they were being punished- the universe righting a wrong- and while we can’t imagine what people felt, I wonder if there was some peace in acceptance of the uncertainty of being alive.
Today, we understand so much more, and yet even as we crawl our way out of the clutches of COVID-19 there are many unanswered questions. And that’s ok. We each can just do the best that we can, each and every day. And invoking protective Devi energy is always a good move ✌🏼
Jai Jai hi mahiashura mardini 💪🏽

Sikander is a Persian rendition of the name Alexander popular in South Asia, figuratively connoting “defender,” “king,” “conqueror,” etc.Alexander the Great attacked the bordering states of India in 326 BC. He had a decisive battle with the Indian king Purushottam (called Porus in Greek Texts, also called Puru) by the banks of the river Jhelum (Hydaspes as mentioned by Greek Historians). ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support and gallery work. Exhibitions and sales have disappeared. In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress I have instigated the ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE #artistsupportpledge
The concept is a simple one. Artists post images of their work, on Instigram which they are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping). Anyone can buy the work. Every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 on another artist/s work
.
To make a pledge, post your work with the #artistsupportpledge and follow the # to see everyone else’s work. Keep updated on new opportunities and announcements @artistsupportpledge Repost and tell your friends, colleagues and collectors. Let generosity be infectious.

California circa 1919. The Spanish flu, also known as the 1918 flu pandemic, was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic. Lasting from January 1918 to December 1920, it infected 500 million people – about a third of the world’s population at the time.

‘Its foolish to write a poem on a rose bush when the entire village is burning. (Perhaps, writing poetry itself is foolish.) But if we were to question why the village was burning, we would realize that it was because mankind forgot to love the rose bush. Writing a poem about it’s beauty could have, perhaps, averted the conflagration.’ – Yashwant Chittal, Shikari

Give Yourself Grace
When you’re doing hard things.
When you’re going through change.
When you’re noticing old patterns creeping back in.
When you don’t feel like you showed up at your best.
When you’re lost in the whirling dervish of busy.
When your heart feels heavy.
When your mood feels flat.
When you pick a fight for no reason.
When you lose your temper.
When you make a mistake.
When you are having a very human experience, give yourself grace.
The times when you need grace most are the times when you’re least likely to give it to yourself. The standards you hold yourself to are so high, and even when those standards are in your own best interest, you still need grace.
You need grace when you’re trying to make positive shifts because you won’t do it perfectly. None of us do.
You need grace when you’re being hard on the people around you because there’s a need that you need to fill for yourself.
You need grace when you’re exhausted because you deserve to rest.
Grace looks different for everyone and at it’s core is ease. That feeling when your whole body exhales and things don’t feel as tightly wound as they did a moment ago.
Grace can look like focusing on 1 thing each day that you’re proud of, to combat the voice that tells you you didn’t do enough.
Grace can look like listening to that quiet whisper of a voice that says go for a walk, even though you’ve got an inbox full of email.
Grace can look like taking time to just be, instead of trying to overthink every. single thing.
Grace can look like letting yourself splurge, even though you’re being financially conscious.
Grace can look like a day of indulging in silly movies and bad TV.
Whatever grace looks like for you, give it to yourself…and if you’re not sure what your grace looks like, get curious. Think about the places in your life where your standards or expectations have gotten too tightly wound. The smallest step you can take toward ease

“I wish that I could tell you otherwise, but we are losing again. The truth is in our face, we hear the canons go boom. The extubation rate in my combined ICU Cores is less than 5%, Average time on the ventilator is 22 days with no end in sight as the tracheostomy teams are called in. This virus has us beat, its pathomechics inscrutable. We are doing what we can but we are simply unable to get patients off the vents. They lay in their beds angelic and trusting as we thrust and parry with the inevitable complications of long-term ICU care. We all try not to look at the snapshots scotch taped over the beds, silly selfies, a group in front of a cathedral somewhere, hikers on a summit. It’s just too painful, we look away and put our heads down back to the task of keeping the patients alive, 12 hours at a time.” — Dr. Andrew Thomas⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Repost from @abhiart using @RepostRegramApp – “Earth’s dream”
What would you ask if you ever met an Forest spirit creature, which knows everything about the magic of Earth ?
I’ll pretend I’m that forest spirit and answer you:)
–
What is the Earth dream ?
–
–
Immersed in the great silence, the most profound oneness was found. The one big breath aligned all.
Everyone was given a bit of it to keep but the ones who shared it in the name of Love found its true abundance. –
That’s the message of Earth, to share, give, to be part of it’s harmonious cycles, despite one’s stark differences. The lesson is all too evident, and found in the wisdom of the Earth, which dreams in our dreams. That is the wisdom which sees through listening and listens by seeing. The journey to align oneself with the great synchronicity of Bhoomi, Gaya, Earth, Medhini, she reveals her aura in your dreams but her radiance is exalted most profoundly though our acts of giving and loving.
It’s one big family, at least in her heart, we share in the fate of life, decay and death equally, of winters and spring, fruits, flowers and thorns. There’s wisdom in all these, beautifully synchronized, which the great ones explored. In the silent being of trees this timeless path is ever present…if one is listening closely like an Elephant.
Our ways have only scarred her, let’s hope we emerge back as people who listen, and create space so no one on this planet feels suffocated.
It seems like an impossible thing considering our default nature but that’s her dream, Earth’s dream.
SoLove, give, share and let’s celebrate every day as the #earthday

I have been feeling a lack of spaciousness in my body and my mind recently. Perhaps there’s been an infiltration of the incessant ‘doing’ of the world that has not halted through serious lockdowns, but rather migrated online and leaked in through our eyes. This evening I chose to sit for a mindful, unguided meditation. I sat without motive or cause. I sat to simply be present. The message I received has been the same for decades, and it forms the warp and weft of my life: silence. and words.
Silence heals. Silence is our home. It’s a natural sanctuary. How have we forgotten?
I reached for Radical Compassion by beloved meditation teacher @tarabrach and of course, the first paragraph of the book seemed to address me personally, the answer to the question I hadn’t asked: ‘We all get lost in the dense forest of our lives, entangled in incessant worries and planning, in judgements of others, and in our busy striving to meet demands and solve problems. When we’re caught in that thicket, it’s easy to lose sight of what matters most. We forget how we long to be kind and open hearted. We forget our ties to this sacred earth and to all living beings. And in a deep way, we forget who we are.’
Lovers, you don’t NEED to improve your yourself, build wind chimes for the neighbours, become a Master Chef or add anything to your innate perfection. You are not deficient! You are worthy and valuable and infinitely lovable without all the dressing. All we need to do is subtract: all the noise, thoughts, ideas, judgements and beliefs that have sunk their sharp little teeth into your sacred body and mind. Drop anything that is not you. Drop it all like it singes your soul, because it probably does.
Repost from @janicepariat using @RepostRegramApp – Today I learnt a new word, not in English, but in Khasi—rympei. Quite simply, the room in which the fire is lit, where food is cooked and water heated, where the household gathers to warm themselves.
My Khasi-Khasi-English dictionary (which provides definitions for Khasi words in both languages) goes on to explain, in English, that rympei is also “the Khasi way of life where the hearth is at its centre”
But I’m intrigued by the definition offered in Khasi which uses the word “ker”—to guard or protect. So rympei is both the hearth, the “dpei”, and the house built around to shelter it. A house that extends, it hints, beyond brick and stone and mortar.
Rympei is one of those lovely expansive words. It contains, I realise, not merely a pinpointing of domestic location but also a way of being that trusts the fire will be kept burning—by song, story, ritual, action—to sustain, and nourish, and provide.
It turns out too that today is Earth Day (thank you @google doodle), and no better day on which to learn a word that’s meant to signify community, learning, and care towards that which sustains us and keeps us alive.
