The Delhi book launch was special for many reasons- KNM was a beautiful setting- in the midst of art by women artists on Partition, one of the best moderators I have conversed with – Rakhshanda Jalil and many friends in the audience, some who have seen me since I was a child. And my parents, who have always supported my life and work choices. Couldn’t have asked for more.

I did go back in time with Sudhanva and Mala, two pillars of Jan Natya Manch while speaking about Safdar Hashmi and the play, Halla bol

I had volunteered with SPICMACAY when I was in college. I am grateful for how they bring art and artists to the youth. I will be sharing my thoughts about how society influences cinema and in return cinema influences society. I look forward to the questions that emerge from it. While it’s for their volunteers, all are welcome. ‘See’ you on Sunday!
A poem by Safdar Hashmi that I have always enjoyed reading.
Yet another conversation on the book “Manto and I”, although I always end up talking more about Manto the man, than the film or the book. Infact, I like it that way! Anjum Rajabali made the conversation lively and deep, all at the same time.

Happy to be telling a story while the kids are all (well, many) locked down. Haven’t done it online ever! Brings back memories of doing audiobooks for Karadi Tales, more than 15 years ago. Trying to coax my son to join in. ‘See’ you tomorrow!
Go to the Karadi Tales facebook page at 5:30 PM tomorrow to join the live session!
My Telugu dialogue practice is bookenended by the launches of ‘Manto and I’. Excited for next launch in Delhi on 21st Feb at the Kiran Nadar Museum at 6:30 PM.
It will then be followed by a conversation with Rakhshanda Jalil.
Please RSVP
Would love to see you there! Kiran Nadar Museum of Art
Come if you can.
A book on Safdar Hashmi, my mentor, by Sudhanva Deshpande, who introduced me to the world of politics and street theatre, during my last year of school. Grateful to both and to that time. I will be reading an excerpt from the play Halla Bol, written and directed by Safdar Hashmi & reliving the role of Ashsho. I had performed it more than 50 times!! Excited!
