I’m excited to share that @bryankonietzko and I are working together again, this time to bring a new live-action version of Avatar to Netflix. Concept art by @johnstaubart Here’s a quote from the press release. Link in bio. “We’re thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender,” DiMartino and Konietzko said in a release announcing the project. “We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone’s great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Netflix is wholly dedicated to manifesting our vision for this retelling, and we’re incredibly grateful to be partnering with them.”
Just got my copies of the Library Edition of the most recent Team Avatar adventures. Looks beautiful! Great work by @faitherinhicks @peterwartman and everyone involved! Available June 16 in bookstores and June 17 in comic shops.
A new Korra comic I wrote is out in the world. With incredible art by @lokhelle. And gorgeous color by @collarpoints Link in bio to interview about the story. Nrama: What made you want to bring back Kuvira for this storyline? DiMartino: Kuvira was one of my favorite antagonists from Legend of Korra. I wanted to explore whether or not someone with her past, who had done a lot of terrible things, could be redeemed. I thought it would be interesting to see Kuvira stand trial for her war crimes and join forces with Team Avatar to combat a group of Earth Empire loyalists who try to reassert their power. And although Kuvira had surrendered at the end of the animated series, she had caused a lot of mayhem, both in the world and with her adoptive family, the Beifongs. I knew there was a lot of great character moments to be mined between Kuvira and Su, as well as the other Beifongs, and see if a family could heal after such a terrible rift.

Had a really fun school visit in Boise Idaho today with a great group of 4-5th graders who are excited to read Rebel Genius.
Had a great book talk last night at @hicklebees bookstore. Thanks to @armand_baltazar for asking me great questions. Armand has written an awesome time travel book with tons of beautiful illustrations called Timeless.
