Sanjana Sanghi Instagram – I realised it then, that sharing brief moments with you in a film as special as #HindiMedium and a song as loved as #Hoor – at such a young age, will forever be one of the greatest gifts I could get as an actor. I’m guilty of both naively & greedily dreaming, that I’d get many more opportunities to be around you, learn from you and work with you, at various points in the future. You are, incontestably, God’s greatest gift to Indian cinema, to the craft of performing, and to multiple generations of artists, in my humble belief. You unabashedly spoke of your absolute disdain for measuring actors and the depth of their craft by the number of zeros in their box office collections, and a nuance in the language of film that you were perpetually in search of. That we only deserved to be called “artists” , if we understand the meaning of creating true art, that ought to be personal, to be interacting with life around and be unquantifiable. That everything else in the name of art, is a lie. The pain of your departure, for us, aspiring young artists, and for cinema all over the world, is indescribable & may take excruciatingly long to heal. Knowing you have been relieved of your pain, serves as solace. Rest in peace, Legend. ♥️ #RIPIrrfanKhan
Sanjana Sanghi Instagram – I’d never poured so much of my life out in front of so many hundreds of people, in a manner as vulnerable, ever before. But the only one thing I felt after being up there on the TedX stage, trying to articulate some of my life experiences – was cathartic. These times of a COVID-19 struck world, for all of us, are unsettling, anxiety inducing, worrying & undeniably- fear provoking. This TedX talk happened many months ago, in a Pre-Corona struck world. And yet in my time up on stage, the core of what I spoke about, was the realisation of how everything I’ve ever done in my life thus far, for good or for bad, has largely originated out of fear – and so I had decided to call my talk “Unboxing Fears”. Even gathering the power to be up there on stage with an audience that ran into many hundreds, and give a TED Talk, for me – was dominated by fear, of so many shapes and sizes. I had to share bits of my story in a way that seemed structured, and logical. That was hard to do, because I realised most of my decisions throughout my life have neither been well structured nor too logical. But like every time before, this time too, I tried to find strength in having the resolve to fight that fear. I’m certain, we’re all going to find the strength in having the resolve to emerge victorious in a Post-Corona world. I hope we all do.
