With the help of a home video clip of my daughter Mary (3 years old at the time and wearing a Max suit she wore every day for over a month) here’s a reading of Maurice Sendak’s classic WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE for @savewithstories benefitting @savethechildren and @nokidhungry .
THIRTY MILLION CHILDREN rely on school for food. Responding to the needs of kids during these school closures, @savethechildren and @nokidhungry have a new fund @savewithstories to support food banks, and mobile meal trucks, and community feeding programs with funds to do what they do best – and also – with educational toys, books, and worksheets to make sure brains are full, as well as bellies.

One of the best parts about being an actor is the incredible people I get to meet along the way, like my long time friend, Carrie “Ri” Billy. Ri is an amazing 17-year-old girl who, because of a rare medical condition, desperately needs our help. I’ve set up a Go Fund Me page (link below and link in bio) so you can learn more about Ri and be part of the community that is supporting her and her family.
Ri is the daughter of a personal and business friend, whom I met 21 years ago. Over the decades, the family and I have bonded and have developed a friendship that will last our lifetimes. Ri, and Ri’s siblings have become like family to me.
Ri has been diagnosed with MCAS or Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, a rare immunological condition that causes extremely painful heart, skin, lung, and gastrointestinal symptoms. In addition, she has developed other medical problems including PCOS, Psoriatic Arthritis, POTS disease, and devastating avascular necrosis in both legs.
Ri has undergone more than 15 surgeries over the last three years, battling MCAS and its associated health issues.
Treatments for MCAS are wildly expensive. While Ri’s medical insurance covers much of the medical costs, there a significant gap in coverage. Additionally, other non-medical expenses of travel, child care, meals, and transportation have been a major burden.
