As we were driving from Chile to El Calafate and on to @jurassiclake lodge we saw something move on the side of the dirt road. A cute creature was struggling to get up on it’s feet. We got out of the car, saw it was a newborn guanaco lying next to it’s own placenta, and helped him up. At first it seemed a bit scared, but after a minute or two it clearly started getting attached to us wanting our attention. We weren’t quite ready to become parents to a guanaco so we drove off to see if it’s parents would return, and after a short moment they ran to him for what seemed like a happy reunion.
