Pete Buttigieg Instagram – Even in normal times, #MemorialDay is our most ambivalent holiday.
The unofficial start of American summer is the day we set aside to honor our war dead. This year, a pandemic as lethal & disruptive as a war has descended on our lives, frozen our communities, & ravaged our economy. Perhaps the best way to honor this holiday in 2020 is to ask what we can all do, together and separately, to make sure our present-day American life is worthy of the price so many paid in order to protect it.
Getting that right will require more of us now than ever.
