All 15,000 field workers we had before #COVID19 are still working among those in greatest need. Nurses and doctors didn't take leave from the hospitals. When patients came, they kept showing up. And humanitarian workers are also stepping up to the challenge and are eager to do more. They just need more resources to give the poorest the care, space and hygiene that we take for granted, and to help them survive the second wave of hunger and devastation that follow a pandemic. I hope we will get the necessary influx of resources - I’m seeing an increasing concern for the wellbeing of the most vulnerable around the world. That gives me hope. Kristofer Hivju Instagram – Jan Egeland: Beyond the health impacts of the disease itself, we need to be aware of the devastating economic consequences of the lockdowns. Millions of the people that @NRC_Norway helps, live hand-to-mouth every day, but they haven’t had the opportunity to earn their daily wage during the pandemic.

For example, in Yemen we’re facing possibly the largest humanitarian crisis on earth, 20 of the 28 million people there needed assistance before #COVID19. 10 million of them are one step away from famine. They will be harder hit than anyone else by the growing pandemic. If we don’t step in, coronavirus will thrive in Yemen and will return to other parts of the world in the future. We urge global leaders to unite and stamp out the virus everywhere, together
