Millions of the people that @NRC_Norway helps, live hand-to-mouth every day, but they haven’t had the opportunity to earn their daily wage during the pandemic. For example, in Yemen we’re facing possibly the largest humanitarian crisis on earth, 20 of the 28 million people there needed assistance before #COVID19. 10 million of them are one step away from famine. They will be harder hit than anyone else by the growing pandemic. If we don’t step in, coronavirus will thrive in Yemen and will return to other parts of the world in the future. We urge global leaders to unite and stamp out the virus everywhere, together To ensure our most vulnerable receive the aid they need, join our coordinated global response to COVID-19 and demand action at @ONE. #oneworld #passthemic

Kristofer Hivju Instagram – Jan Egeland: I’m impressed by the way aid workers have stepped up to the challenge. All 15,000 field workers we had before #COVID19 are still working among those in greatest need. Nurses and doctors didn’t take leave from the hospitals. When patients came, they kept showing up. And humanitarian workers are also stepping up to the challenge and are eager to do more. They just need more resources to give the poorest the care, space and hygiene that we take for granted, and to help them survive the second wave of hunger and devastation that follow a pandemic. I hope we will get the necessary influx of resources – I’m seeing an increasing concern for the wellbeing of the most vulnerable around the world. That gives me hope.

Kristofer Hivju Instagram – Thanks Kristofer, I’m so pleased to be here. It’s so important for us all to understand how the pandemic is hitting the poorest people in our global community. There are more than 75 million refugees and displaced around the world who have been driven out of their homes by violence and conflict. We have to do even more for this group during this pandemic than we ever did before because they have lost everything – their homes, their hospitals and their communities.

Those in greatest need deserve the most help. We urge the global community to join us in solidarity with the most vulnerable.
