Powerful. This iconic image, of a brave young Black woman taking a knee at the feet of a heavily armed police force, was taken yesterday in San Jose.

Thank you @thedodo for sharing this beautiful video of my friends @liberiachimprescueprotection.
I had the absolute honor of spending time with Chancey and witnessing the love and care from Jenny Jim.
Chimps deserve to live in the wild.

Animal Love Rescue Center in Costa Rica needs urgent help.
They are a non-profit no-kill charitable shelter that takes care of more than 1,000 animals.
More than 800 are dogs and cats.
The rescue center funded by vegan – vegetarian hotel “lands in love” is closed from the middle of March as a result of the Coronavirus world crisis.
They need urgent help to keep the shelter running.
Without help, the rescue center will be closed and the animals will be released to the streets. Visit their site to learn more or donate @animalloverescue 💚

This #FathersDay, we’re thinking about every father taken by our racist systems.
Mass incarceration disproportionately separates Black fathers from their kids. Our racist criminal legal system rushes to judgment, often despite evidence, with harsh sentences to go along with it.
Chris Kearney is one of its victims. He’s spending today in jail despite his innocence, away from his young son.
Too many fathers have been killed by our racist policing system. Because of it, too many children are spending #FathersDay alone.
Steve Taylor is one of those fathers. When he needed help, police killed him instead.
We also remember every lost son taken by police-related violence.
Ahmaud Arbery is one. He was killed by former law enforcement, who were then protected by the same system they used to be a part of.
We fight for justice for all of them.
🖤

We must end racism in its entirety. Allowing the @nfl to continue to use the @redskins name is destructive to Native communities and cannot be tolerated.
Change the name @Redskins @nfl

“Raising a black boy is a scary blessing.
It is like a big countdown from when your child grows from this cute little person into a threatening weapon. Even though, my black baby boy may hate violence, may not believe in carrying weapons or even fighting. The sheer amount of melanin in his skin will make him a threat in a short amount of time.
I wish time would slow down. Not only because I want to cherish these sweet moments of his childhood, but also because I know that it’s only a matter of time before I can no longer protect this beautiful black boy from the ignorant people that will see him as a weapon of mass destruction only because of his skin color.
How much longer do I have before my 8-year-old son grows from cute to a threat?
This is a question I constantly ask myself.
❌Maybe 20 years? No… that can’t be right because #AhmaudArbery was an unarmed black boy killed at the age of 24 for just going on a daily jog.
❌Maybe 10 years? No… that can’t be right because #TrayvonMartin was an unarmed black boy killed at the age of 17 for just wearing a hoodie.
❌Maybe 5 years? No… that can’t be right either because #TamirRice was an unarmed black boy killed at the age of 12 for just playing with toys in the park.
______________________________________
To the Non-Black Mom,
Can you raise your child not to fear my son’s black skin?
Can you become an advocate and stand with mothers of black sons, to fight for justice?
We need you as allies. We need you to pull up and be an activist when we are too.
We show up for you being feminists and advocating Women’s Rights, now is the time that I need you to show up for us.
Every last one of those men that killed an unarmed black boy was raised by a mother. I wish that mother had the opportunity to read this post when her child was young.”

Did you know most epidemic diseases originate in animals?
Thanks for the info @afrovegansociety 💚
Human epidemics started about 10,000 years ago when we forced wild animals into domestication.
⠀
Forcing wild animals into close contact with humans also brought us into close contact with their diseases.
⠀
We will continue to create these deadly epidemics as long as we have an animal-based food system.
⠀
Building a completely accessible plant-based food system is the only solution✊🏾💚🌱✨

Breonna Taylor would have turned 27 years old today.
⠀
Just 3 months ago, Breonna was an essential worker – an EMT working at two hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
That was before Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove burst into Breonna’s home as she slept and shot and killed her.
⠀
These officers ARE STILL on administrative leave.
⠀
⠀
We are so grateful to everyone who made phone calls this week, asking Louisville city council safety committee to advance legislation banning no-knock raids, which is how Breonna was killed.
WE STILL HAVE WORK TO DO.
⠀
Here are your action steps;
🗣TODAY, on what would have been her 27th birthday, we will honor Breonna by saying her name. Making sure her life, her story is not forgotten.
Share videos saying her name and don’t forget to use the hashtags #SayherName #StandwithBre #BreonnaTaylor
⠀
📞MAKE A CALL
On June 11th, the entire city council must vote to pass Breonna’s Law to effectively ban No Knock Raids. Call 502-735-1784 to ask that city council vote to PASS BREONNA’S LAW
⠀
🖊SIGN YOUR NAME
on the super petition at StandwithBre.com to demand that the officers be charged for murdering Breonna
⠀
We will not forget your name, Bre.
We will not stop fighting for you.
We WILL get justice 💪
⠀

Dear @NFL & @NYGiants,
It’s time to listen to your players. It’s time to make up for failing to support the people who have helped make your league what it is. It’s time to step up. Condemn racism and the systematic oppression of Black people. Be leaders for equality. Because BLACK LIVES MATTER.

how it affects 3 generations of black men in my family. Let’s create a better future together. This video is 8 mins and 2 secs long. Derek Chauvin had his knee on George Floyd’s neck for another 44 seconds longer than that. Think about that.
