Mass incarceration disproportionately separates Black fathers from their kids. Our racist criminal legal system rushes to judgment, often despite evidence, with harsh sentences to go along with it. Chris Kearney is one of its victims. He’s spending today in jail despite his innocence, away from his young son. Too many fathers have been killed by our racist policing system. Because of it, too many children are spending #FathersDay alone. Steve Taylor is one of those fathers. When he needed help, police killed him instead. We also remember every lost son taken by police-related violence. Ahmaud Arbery is one. He was killed by former law enforcement, who were then protected by the same system they used to be a part of. We fight for justice for all of them.
