Pattachitra is a general term for traditional, cloth-based scroll painting, based in the eastern Indian states of Odisha and West Bengal. The artform is known for its intricate details as well as mythological narratives and folktales inscribed in it. . These were made by one artist’s mentor: his grandfather. This is a old style which is very folkish and not generally seen these days. It depicts the story of Krishna as Puri Jagannath . In these times, it’s essential to support our traditional artisans. This family of artists is not receiving their annual commissions nor selling as the Rathyatra (Chariot festival) was cancelled and tourism has taken a hit.
