Hello We are witnessing first hand the incredible suffering that an infectious disease like COVID19 can cause. I know it may seem strange in this moment for me to talk about Tuberculosis, as you will probably be thinking we have enough to deal with but As ambassador for the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, I will talk about it , as it is something that has been ignored and marginalized as its mainly the poor who have been affected. So as One week today on March 24 is World TB Day. I will be a reminder that Tuberculosis, or TB as most people call it, is now the biggest infectious disease killer in the world, killing some 1.6 million people a year. When a disease is focused on progress is made like we’ve seen , Cancer, Aids and they are saying a vaccination will be available for COVID19 within a year .So a reminder TB is preventable, treatable and curable ,yet it now accounts for more deaths than HIV/AIDS.

All you have to do is listen to @nanditavenky speak once about her journey with TB ,what she feels and believes must be done and you will want to join this battle. The dedication of this community of incredible people fighting to end TB which you would have thought by 2019 would be a thing of the past ,instead it’s the neglected biggest killer in the world . Thankfully governments know the facts and the UN has made a pledge to end TB globally by 2030 but the work needed to do this is VAST. If you saw the pain of the treatments that make survivors sometimes loose the will to fight ,the side effects of these old vaccines , loosing your hearing could be a side effect even the pain because of the amount of injections needed can make you loose the will to live , maybe if you understood that it is creeping back on the doorstep of the western world maybe its need would be heard .I am thankful for this time spent with these persevering people who are dedicating themselves to fighting & ending #TB . Thank you @toddkrim it all started with you 👏 no. 1 Wingman & #michaelkessler thank you for pulling me up this mountain of information you Aussie Champ! #JoseLuisCastro & #DrJeremiahChakaya their inspired and loving leadership of #TheUnion moves me as Never forget it starts at the top .
