Aunque tuve una infancia hermosa en Cuba, debo decir que no fue la más fácil. Con solo un cuarto de pollo por persona al mes, un pan por persona al día y raciones de comida limitadas, siempre tenía hambre. No teníamos lujos como pasta de dientes, así que usamos carbón y bicarbonato de sodio. Poníamos calcetines juntos para hacer una pelota de béisbol y jugamos sin zapatos. Con creatividad e ingenio siempre encontramos una manera de perseverar. Pero la parte más difícil de crecer en Cuba, la parte que atacó nuestras almas, fue no tener libertad. Nuestra capacidad de soñar y nuestros destinos eran limitados. Sabíamos que no importaba cuánto trabajáramos o estudiáramos o cuán grandes fueran nuestros sueños, siempre tendríamos los mismos resultados. Todos estábamos destinados a vivir la misma vida pobre y miserable sin futuro. Finalmente, me di cuenta de que mi única esperanza era abandonar el país. Pasé mis días contemplando el océano y soñando con algún día llegar a los Estados Unidos de América, un país donde todo es posible. Ayer se cumplió el 25 aniversario del día en que ese sueño se hizo realidad. No tenía dinero y no hablaba el idioma, pero eso no importó porque finalmente tuve la libertad de vivir la vida que elijo y en los Estados Unidos, el cielo es el límite. Esto también marca el día en que se abrió la puerta al resto del mundo. Desde entonces , ha sido un hermoso viaje. Gracias Dios, gracias Estados Unidos, gracias México, gracias América Latina y gracias a todos mis fanáticos de todo el mundo por darme tanto amor y hacer realidad los sueños de ese pequeño niño cubano.

I’ve never really been a “shoe guy”.
But spending hours at the gym and then more hours on set in reharsals and performances gets extremely tiring for my feet and knees. That’s why I’ve always chosen comfortable shoes over on-trend brands.
In early 2020, I was hired to do a shoot for this new brand called ShüCrü.
We shot for hours. While we were at it, we learned all about the benefits of podiatry science as it relates to foot comfort. And after spending that long day on set, I couldn’t believe how good my feet felt!
Even after a few weeks went by, I still found myself going on and on to to my friends and family about how much I liked these shoes. Then it finally hit me—why not invest in this company that I can’t stop raving about, and become a partner?
