We kneel with all those opposing Anti-Black racism. #BlackLivesMatter
Jacinda Ardern becomes NZ most popular PM in a century, poll reveals. Quite right, Jacinda’s leadership has been outstanding from the terrorist outrage that New-Zealand suffered to her and the NZ government handling of the #Covid19 pandemic. A brilliant leader and PM in every aspect.
Seeing so many people out of my street take part in the #clapforourcarers was heartwarming❤️ Every key worker deserves this gratitude, but they also deserve to be paid properly and given the necessary protective equipment!
The government have now done a u turn on Free School Meals for children during summer, they will fund the £120 million cost. Not a time to gloat but to say a massive thanks to footballer Marcus Rashford who led the campaign and many others too from all sides of the political spectrum 👏👏👏 #holidayswithouthunger
Your support means everything. I will never stop fighting for our movement 🌹
PM to take “direct control” of the Government handling #coronavirus crisis? Well who on earth has been in charge the last three months then? Meanwhile the NZ PM Jacinda Ardern has said she could lift all social distancing measures to return the country to normal life, bar the international border closure, as early as next week? We are way behind! 😡
A big happy 40th birthday to Jacinda Ardern the 40th prime minister of New-Zealand. Outstanding leader for New-Zealand Labour and PM, l hope you have a fantastic day. Jacinda (Pictured) was surprised with a cake and a birthday singalong on a visit to Newtown Markets in the capital Wellington yesterday. 🎂🥳 🇳🇿
I am proud to stand up for every working class kid and working class woman with an accent who has been told that they aren’t good enough and don’t belong….
We are all thinking of our friend Jo Cox today who was taken from us four years ago. “We have more in common than that which divides us” such powerful and strong words that will always resonate #JoCox #MoreInCommon
We must keep fighting for all key workers to get the protective equipment they so urgently need. We must look after those that look after us! Join me this morning at 11am in a one minutes silence for our London bus drivers who have lost their lives to #COVID19. Every death is a tragedy, we shall remember them❤️
Proud mum moment. This is the boy who we were told he’d not survive the night when born at 23 weeks. 🥰
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” Martin Luther King, Jr.
On this day in 1992 John Smith is elected leader of the Labour Party. John was elected with 91% of the vote, he claims ‘today we begin a journey to eliminate poverty, injustice and homelessness’. He warns of the ‘social unrest’ caused by ‘a hesitant and divided Tory Party’. He says as part of his acceptance speech, “I look around and in every part of the country, in every walk of life, in our schools, at work, in our streets and towns, I see opportunity denied, potential unfulfilled and talent unused.” Those words are as poignant today as they were then, and today’s Tories have much in common as their predecessors did in 1992. Such a shame that he never became our prime minister, his vision and compassion would have changed our country for the better for so many…
As we fall silent in solidarity with #GeorgeFloyd today, we commit ourselves to fighting against racism and discrimination in the US, here in the UK and around the world. George Floyd’s death must be a catalyst for change. #BlackLivesMatter
On Good Morning Britain earlier talking about the A level results disaster. It’s had a disproportionate impact on children from disadvantaged backgrounds. We have called for the government to go back to the teacher awarded grades. The current system has ‘baked-in inequalities’ and is completely unfair. It’s about young people who are having their life chances stolen from them because of a flawed system. The Government’s failed system favours private schools like Eton over disadvantaged students. I also asked the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson MP why aren’t you out on the media this morning explaining to thousands of young people what you are going to do to fix the A Levels results mess? Good Morning Britain asked me to grade your performance in handling this fiasco, I’m afraid it’s an E downgraded to a U!
Today we remember the 8 people murdered and those injured, many critically 3 yrs ago in the appalling terrorist attack at London Bridge and Borough Market. There was outstanding bravery shown that night from so many bystanders and our emergency services. Extremism will never win….
Incredible talent and beautiful person. R.I.P. #ChadwickBoseman
#Marr show this morning talking on Care home deaths and Care Workers #covıd19
RIP Jack Charlton, We shouldn’t use the word legend too much, but in football Jack was a legend both as a player and International manager for the Republic of Ireland. Sending my deepest condolences to Jack’s family and friends.
A big happy birthday to Navendu Mishra today, Nav is the MP for my home town of Stockport, he’s a great friend and part of my Parliamentary team too. Hope you have a lovely day today Nav 🥳🥳🥳
Dave Prentis has announced that he will retire as general secretary of Unison on the 31st December. I wish Dave a long and happy retirement. Dave has led our union for many years and has been an outstanding general secretary. Always encouraging activists like me in the early days in the union, always so supportive, thanks for everything Dave. 👏
Today is #DDay76 We remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their tomorrow for our today. Never forget the bravery of those who took part in the D-Day landings and began the liberation of Europe from fascism. #LestWeForget #DDay2020
