Charlie Carver Instagram – I love this picture and am re-upping BECAUSE (!) I look hydrated AND today is #nationalvoterregistrationday … FUCK YES. Look, I can’t force you to vote. I won’t shame you into registering if you haven’t already because shame is such a shitty thing to put out into the world. But I am a voter and I’m happy to tell you why. If you follow me, I think you can guess where I stand on certain issues. I don’t define myself by my politics or consider myself particularly authoritative or righteous on all things. I am impacted by politics, yes. But there are lots of people who are WAY more impacted by politics than I am: folks with disabilities and underlying conditions that need quality healthcare in an essential way that I can only empathize with. Kids who will inherit a world quickly shaped by rising temperatures and coastlines … I could go on. I vote in the interest of THESE people. Voting costs me almost nothing – very little time and maybe just a little bit of gas. Taking time out of my day for that is quite honestly a pleasure (and an honor). And hey, I’m paying taxes anyway. I am a voter. My friends are voters. We will check in about it and have a plan for the election. It all feels rather… nice. And important. But nice. And guess what?
