Always dreamt more for you than I’ve for myself. That’s how much you’ve filled all the space. Words won’t suffice to explain what you’ve done to me. Infact love feels so underrated right now. You’ve whole of my Heart Hali! You know everything I want you to know. Happy Birthday @halithashameem! Can’t wait to celebrate everything that you’re going to achieve! I love you ❤️🤗

I was 10 years old when my dad took me to the Chepauk stadium for the first time to watch a game of Cricket. I had no clue about the sport, but I was learning only to watch the game for him. Something about him made me learn every bit of it. Cricket was only Dhoni to me and nothing else. Got tickets at the pavilion right above the dressing room and I kept yelling at the top of my voice, “Dhoni!”. The match got over, CSK won, most of the crowd had left the stadium, The post match interview was happening right below the pavilion, and after a while, that too got over. I continued to wait, refused to leave, and continued to shout his name at the top of my voice, almost to a point where my throat started to give away. The interview got over, and he walked inside.
My heart sank and I was almost in tears. And just when I was going to give up and walk away, I see my hero step back out of the Pavillion remembering the screechy ten year old yelling out his name, looks up straight into my eyes, gives a warm wide smile and waves a huge Hi. That’s it. That made my year.
Everyday I used to wake up and jump around the house saying “Dhoni said Hi to me”. Literally my first thought, every morning for 6 straight months Nothing matched that feeling. Nothing.
I’ve seen him couple of times after that, In close quarters, didn’t have to shout or even call. Yet I still felt the same goosebumps and tears of joy.
#MSD, cricket will never be the same for me. Thank you for being such an inspiration, your legacy will never be forgotten. You’ll be the first human I’ll introduce to my children.
Thank you Hero, Thank you! @mahi7781
