Thought experiment: Yes, the mask stays on after you’re vaccinated for COVID-19 at least for a little while longer.
Here’s why:
1. Until we reach 70% herd immunity, social distancing and masking measures will need to continue, though likely not to the same degree we’re seeing now.
2. The vaccines will protect against symptomatic COVID-19. What we don’t know is if vaccinated people could spread it asymptomatically to those without immunity.
3. The key issue is that if people are vaccinated, and they can still spread it, then that’s a risk to the people who aren’t vaccinated
4. But the end is in sight. We can’t forget COVID-19 exists – but the grip it has over our lives will be much looser.

Wear a 😷 Be safe. Exercise compassion for others. I’m immuno-compromised and I’ve never been as acutely aware of my condition since I was in the middle of chemo.
….
You know what’s real cultural disruption? A revolution of kindness. Let the opinions melt away until all that left is compassion and care for the other.
Didn’t think I’d say this so soon after boarding for North America, but I’m missing frizzy hair and sweaty armpits.

River Valley. Singapore. A banquet of feeling.
Soleil living her best life with one of her favourite uncles. It’s been marvellous for my kids to connect with the mountains, to experience snow and a radically different landscape from Asia. The girls are enrolled @greenschoolbali in another year, so we feel grateful to ride out this horrid time in nature and community.

On Winter’s Margin”
by Mary Oliver
On winter’s margin, see the small birds now
With half-forged memories come flocking home
To gardens famous for their charity.
The green globe’s broken; vines like tangled veins
Hang at the entrance to the silent wood.
With half a loaf, I am the prince of crumbs;
By time snow’s down, the birds amassed will sing
Like children for their sire to walk abroad!
But what I love, is the gray stubborn hawk
Who floats alone beyond the frozen vines;
And what I dream of are the patient deer
Who stand on legs like reeds and drink the wind;—
They are what saves the world: who choose to grow
Thin to a starting point beyond this squalor.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
Don’t you just adore this five alarm fire bloom?
poinsettias say: mask up when you’re out, save all your flash for moody lighting at home.
Hello @thejosiehotel

Thank you @alykhanrajani for sending this image and the tireless work you do in steering humanitarian issues and human rights to the forefront of conversation with @canadainindia
(Dearest Deepa- how cool is your dupatta and mask!)
Found a fallen tree on an old rail trail scattered with pine cones. Thought it to be perfect for our home: the right height, the right density of branches and needles to hang our Christmas ornaments. It smelled floral and citrusy and spicy. Or maybe that was the wind. Hid it with the guile of a wartime radio operator. Drove back to the forest to claim it today. On the way, passed a Douglas Fir lashed to the roof of another car. It was headed in the opposite direction and I watched the swaying branches in my rear view mirror, wondering if this was my tree, the tree that never belonged to me to begin with, but which I now longed for with the force of all childhood memories.

I love how this book is a blend of honesty, humour and wisdom.
You know the feeling when you want to put a book down, but can’t? That’s what brilliant writing does.

to give precedence to reading over everything. At least when the kids are at the neighbours.

Great news end of an avalanche of shitty events sort of annum. Wendell’s legacy transcends trends and time and this is a gift for future generations. @jeromegoa ❤️@anjiestylediva @sujstyle
Posted @withregram • @sujstyle UPDATE ON WENDELL’S FASHION LABEL: The combination of corporatisation, commerce and creativity will ensure that the 31 year label that brought resort wear to India, @wendellrodricks, is far from over but has a second far more sweeping wave in @vogueindia. (Swipe to see) Just before lockdown the news of forward thinking designer @wendellrodricks untimely death shook the Indian fashion industry. Now the fashion house has been bought over by Purple Style Labs (PSL) who also own @perniaspopupshop). Making Wendell label one of the handful of labels that had corporate backing. (Others include @anitadongre, @shantanunikhil & @satyapaulindia). “It’s about time we moved in this direction. India has so much creative talent,” says @schulenfernandes, the young designer who took over helm of the creative @wendellrodricks’ label four years ago. Link in stories.
With commentary from PSL’s CEO Abhishek Agarwal, creative director @schulen.fernandes.official and PSL’s creative director who will now work alongside Schulen and was one of the late designer’s closest friends @anjiestylediva.

#FiveMorselsofLove began as an idea to honour a grandmother’s memory. Cooking was a way to keep her memory alive. Ammama had published a Telugu cookbook replete with her recipes and it was her wish to bring out an English version, but she passed before she could see it manifest. Archana, her grand daughter, carried forward this baton of culinary heritage, this gorgeously intimate and universal expression of love in a way that transformed her life in unanticipated ways. I love the story of how what began as a weekend project led to Archana giving up her full time job to give in to this all consuming passion. Also how Archana went from not understanding the basics of ‘tempering’ to accepting an invitation to cook in a Parisian restaurant.
I am in love with this book and all it represents, the ancestors speaking through the language of food. If you are looking to gift the foodie in your life, look no further than this devotional gem.
