Narelle Kheng Instagram – @readingnationsg is launching their #3x3BookClub, a digital/social book club to encourage us to take opportunities to share the books we’ve been reading. I’m not an intense reader, mostly I allow life to overshadow my want to finish a book, but that’s okay too :) I’ve found my preference is toggling thru a myriad of books according to my feels.

My recommendation/review today is Story of your life/Exhalation by Ted Chiang. and. I. just. LOVE. this collection of SF short stories. It’s my go to each time I feel like I want to reconnect with the girl inside me, or feel less alone. It’s kinda geeky but not too much that I feel dumb; escapist and fantastical but with grounded human emotions and empathy; and intertwines science/religion/existentialism in melancholic explorative ways that just feeds my soul!! So often I find myself recalling his analogies/stories as I move through life… just gonna drop it in that Ted Chiang is also a Libra. (I had a sense and I was right!)

I also recommend Emergent Strategy by Adrienne Marie Brown, Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay and This Is What Inequality Looks Like by Teo You Yenn. (I know its an extra but these 3 books have taught me a lot this year).
