Vidya Vox Instagram – *NEW VIDEO ALERT* Hey guys! I know we’ve been stuck at home but I recently got to perform for the NH7 Weekender music festival and wanted to share this clip with you all! It’s one of my favorite songs from my last EP, Mad Dreams. “Dark knees, dark eyes, no powder, sun-filled, my skin holds power” – my fav lyric from “Appadi Podu Di”! Growing up, kids always teased me about my skin color, my Indian food lunch, and taunted me by asking if my house smelled like “curry.” I’d feel ashamed, and started hiding my lunches, trying to blend in as much as possible. But now, I’m proud of all of these things and my heritage. This was the inspiration behind this song “Appadi Podu Di,” which directly translates to “put it like that” or “give it back” in Tamil! I’m proud to be a tadka of dual cultures, especially while singing this song, and hope you feel it too!
