Danny Way Instagram – This was the opening ceremony skate demo rehearsal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. This was just following the first xgames in 1995 so skateboarding was still really underground in this era and it was pretty surreal to all of us back then we were a part of the Olympics in some sort of way. I think we knew skateboarding would be in the Olympics someday but it’s crazy its now the most anticipated event for the upcoming Tokyo Games. This wouldn’t of been possible without @espn @xgames 25 years of commitment to skateboarding, that’s what drove it to a level it had enough mainstream recognition to even be acknowledged by the Olympics. I know how controversial the Olympics have been in endemic skate culture but it’s pretty amazing how much skateboarding has accomplished and how much it’s impacted the world 🌎 #fbf | Posted on 21/Nov/2020 03:39:03
