A lot of people have been asking me how I prepare for roles. I start by voting for Biden/Harris. And all the democrats on the ticket. While I vote, I think about the program 45 created that has separated (at least) 5,500 children from their parents. I think of the 7 children who died in ICE custody while separated from their parents. And how republican politicians continue to support him. I think of the veterans and fallen soldiers 45 has called losers and suckers. And how republican politicians continue to support him. I think of the amazing Americans in the civil service who work their asses off year in, year out for Republican and Democratic presidents alike — who 45 fired and never replaced. I think about 45’s rampant disregard of his most basic duties and how the jobs and systems designed to protect us and care for us remain neglected. And how republican politicians continue to support him. I think about how anyone with a preexisting condition such as diabetes, cancer, long term Covid, arthritis, infantile cerebral palsy, obesity, and anyone who is pregnant stands to lose their coverage. (45 has asked the Supreme Court to nullify Obamacare, including protections for those with preexisting conditions – the court will hear arguments a week after the election.) And how republican politicians continue to support him. I think of how 45 has rolled back 64 environmental protections and regulations and has 34 more in the works. How he pulled out of the Paris Agreement and how these actions will cost America an unfathomable amount of money and are a death sentence for future generations. (California’s fire suppression fund 1980-1989? $25 million. 2010-2019? $401 million. 40 million acres have burned in California so far this year and that is more than double the previous record for any year. P.S. asthma is also a preexisting condition.) And how republican politicians continue to support him. I think about how 45 knew (in January!) how transmittable Covid-19 was and lied to us about it. I think about the 235,204 Americans dead because of his countless failings to support states and citizens.
