Meet SISSY’s lead actress Eloise Mumford. I had the pleasure of meeting Eloise while working on #TheRightStuffseries. I had seen her before at auditions (and had seen her work in films like the #fiftyshadesofgrey series and shows like #ChicagoFire ), but I had never spoken to her. She was the “competition,” and frankly, I was intimidated by her beauty. So the first time I actually had a conversation with her, I was reserved, a little wary. BUT I quickly realized that Eloise is an absolute gem of a human being. She’s genuine, warm, caring, and funny. The kind of person you just want to be around. When I asked her to play Elizabeth and she enthusiastically said yes, I felt like it was some kind of validation of me as a person worth believing in. She’s that freaking cool and amazing. I know she will bring her giant heart and tremendous talent to this film, ensuring Elizabeth is a fully formed character whose struggles we can all relate to. If you haven’t checked out SISSY’s Indiegogo campaign yet (link in bio), please take a moment to do so to find out more about Eloise and the film. #womensupportingwomen #womeninfilm #independentfilm #femaledirector #sissythefilm #filmmaking #actress

I had a nagging feeling. Something was holding me back in life. My gut told me it had to do with the premature loss of my childhood, the effect of taking care of my cousin turned sister at a young age. This burden had bound me to invisible shackles that I was starting to become aware of. SISSY is the breaking of my chains and the beginning of my transformation into the unencumbered person I’ve longed to be. It’s safe to say I’m not the only person who desires this kind of metamorphosis. Life, by its very nature, is a traumatic experience. At some point, we’ve all found ourselves tethered to some festering wound we do not know how to heal. Such was the situation for my sister, whom this story is also about. Her young life has been a series of horrific, damaging events, but miraculously, she is learning to mend her wounds. Our relationship and the love we share has been a salve, for both of us, and the key to freeing us from our painful binds. By distilling our deeply personal stories into a universal tale of triumph over tragedy, my hope is that SISSY will illuminate a path toward freedom for others. If you are interested in seeing SISSY come to life, please check out the indiegogo link in my bio and consider supporting the project. Thank you. #womeninfilm #independentfilm #womenempoweringwomen #sisters #lovehealsallwounds #basedonatruestory #filmmaking

What’s your story? We all have a story to tell: the story that defines us. For me, that story is SISSY. In two days, we will be launching our campaign with details on the story, the team behind it, and our vision. #womeninfilm #womenfilmmakers #independentfilm #sisters #love
Meet Charlie Hofheimer, one of SISSY’s Producers. I met Charlie 15 years ago on a little indie film that shall not be named. We were cast opposite each other as old friends turned lovers. In preparation of our first meeting, I looked him up on IMDb and saw that he acted in “Black Hawk Down.” The only thing I could distinctly remember about that movie was the riveting death scene that took place in an empty warehouse during the middle of the film. So that’s what I said to him, and his response was “That was me.” Yup, he created the moment that stood out the most to me in that amazing, Oscar winning film. Needless to say, I was instantly smitten. Since then, we’ve been life partners. A few years into our relationship, Charlie suggested I venture into other aspects of storytelling besides acting. At that time, I was acting in a film opposite Julia Robers, Willem Dafoe, and Ryan Reynolds. Silly girl that I was, I thought I didn’t need to invest in anything other than acting because I was obviously on my way to the top! I now understand that the investment I needed to make was not in furthering my career but rather in developing my sense of story and broadening my toolkit so that I could bring stories to life that have the power to transform audiences. Stories like SISSY. Charlie and I have produced nearly 40 projects together, two of which he directed. After nearly 30 years of acting and 16 years of producing and directing, he has an innate sense for story structure and character development. He does not settle. He is a challenger, always testing ideas to discover what choices will create the most drama and put the audience in an ethical bind. I couldn’t find a better collaborator. He already is and will be a huge piece of why audiences everywhere will relate to SISSY. Please consider supporting SISSY by checking out the indiegogo link in my bio. #womeninfilm #femalefilmmaker #love #basedonatruestory #lifepartners #businesspartners #mensupportingwomen #independentfilm

We are very excited to announce SISSY’s Director of Photography will be Evans Brown! I had the pleasure of working with Evans way back in my #TrueBlood days, and recently, we were reunited on #therightstuffseries . You might have also seen his work on #TheBoys , #HaltAndCatchFire , #ThePartsYouLose , or #Outcast . Evans is exactly the kind of guy you want on your team. His experience is vast. His visual aesthetic is rich and affecting. And, most importantly, he is a genuine person who stays grounded despite the chaos production can sometimes create. When I first conceived of this film last year, I knew I wanted to work with him, and good friends (and the universe) conspired to make it happen. I couldn’t be happier that he has decided to join SISSY. Please visit our indiegogo campaign (link in bio) to find out more about the true story that inspired SISSY and the team behind it. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated and will help us bring this story to life. #independentfilm #directorofphotography #womeninfilm #basedonatruestory #filmmaking #writerdirector #letsdothis

Meet Berman Fenelus, one of SISSY’s producers. I’ve pretty much known Berman as long as I’ve known Charlie. He and Charlie both grew up in Brooklyn and have been friends since way back. My first experience working with Berman was in 2010 on BAGGAGE, a short film that Charlie directed/wrote/produced and I produced/starred in. In fact, this was the first filmmaking adventure Charlie and I embarked on together. Berman was our 1st Assistant Director and Production Coordinator. Years later, we produced and acted in Berman’s project LANA, which he wrote, produced, and directed. Since LANA, Berman has gone on to do great things. He produced KOJO, an award winning short film that was officially selected for TIFF in 2017. He has directed and shot for Maybelline, Adidas, Toyota, McDonalds, and Tide. In 2020, he won an Emmy for directing the PSA SPELL IT OUT. Currently, he is Senior Content Producer at understood.org. It gives me such a thrill to be getting the gang back together for SISSY, not just because Berman is a kick ass producer who always finds a way to get the job done but also because he’s a friend that I just love being around. Berman is the kind of guy who always has a warm smile on his face, regardless of how hectic the situation may be. I’ve never, literally never, seen him sweat. He seems to understand that life is too short to spend your time stressing. I know that, when the going gets tough for me during the process of making SISSY, I will turn to Berman to remind me, as Bob Marley would say, “Don’t worry, about a thing. Cause every little thing’s gonna be alright.” Please check out SISSY’s indiegogo campaign (link in my bio) to find out more about Berman and the film. #independentfilm #friends #workingwithfriends #womeninfilm #indie #basedonatruestory #filmmaker
