It’s a very special day, Anyone who has lived as long as I have is alive because they have had previous vaccinations, the take up amongst the older generation will be 100% – it ought to be – because you’re having it not just for yourself but for people who you are close to – you’re doing your bit for society. Of course, it’s painless… it’s convenient, and getting in touch and meeting NHS staff and saying thank you to them for how hard they’ve been working is a bonus, I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. I feel very lucky to have had the vaccine. https://www.itv.com/news/2020-12-16/covid-sir-ian-mckellen-praises-nhs-after-first-dose-of-pfizer-vaccine

“55 years ago today, the West End lad looks as if he had a secret – perhaps that he wouldn’t be playing the two performances of “Lily in Little India” on matinée days, when he would be recording the BBC TV’s serial as “David Copperfield”. My understudy was David Cook, who later adapted his novel “Walter” for the first night of Channel 4 and gave me one of my most rewarding parts.”
I fell in with Andy Warhol when I was on Broadway in “Amadeus”. He liked to snap people when he first met them, so this was probably taken when I visited his Factory in Union Square: 1981

After playing Edgar in “King Lear” (me as the old boy) in Chichester, Jonathan joined Patti Lupone in “Company” in the West End and was quite rightly given an Olivier Award. It was good to meet up again, safely, for this chat. https://attitude.co.uk/article/bridgerton-star-jonathan-bailey-speaks-to-ian-mckellen-about-the-evolution-of-being-a-gay-actor-in-the-industry/

Two links in this post. I’ve written about the hidden Fleet Street church where some scenes of The Da Vinci Code were filmed (on my website https://bit.ly/3qAFhmP) This church in the City of London serves the Inns of Court and has a close association with Middle Temple, of which I am an honorary Master. My ashes may be lodged within, at some date yet to be determined. My London https://bit.ly/3l4v9l5
