Christopher Plummer has passed. A legend. I was so blessed to work with this incredible actor who has left us a library of unforgettable performances which I grew up watching in awe. I could go on to write books about the @OurBigDayOut volunteers, about the hundreds of people who come together year after year and donate not just their days off, their late nights, their weekends and holidays, but also their personal resources, those of their companies’ or of their friends’, for the sole purpose of making a better reality for the least fortunate. Hundreds of people sharing one goal, to make a difference.
We just wrapped up the biggest Christmas edition so far:
👉 Over 225,000 products raised
👉 1.4 KM of Christmas packages put together
👉 5,290 Christmas packages distributed across 13 counties (beneficiaries’ list in bio)
👉 349 volunteers & 53 companies joined
👉 122 volunteers participated at the warehouse
👉 Over 3,000 safety and protection equipment offered to our volunteers
The power of the many has no limits, even in a year marked by a pandemic – and @OurBigDayOut is the best example for that.
We have has a fantastic team of volunteers. Lawyers, artists, engineers, teachers, doctors, IT specialists, graphic designers, people from across all industries and from all around the world make up the OBDO universe.
I am thankful for the fact that, year after year, through their individual involvement, we become a little bit kinder, a little bit more aware, a little bit more responsible, and a little bit humbler.
🙏 Thank you to all those who’ve spent well over a month to organize this edition.
🙏Thank you to those who participated at the warehouse, preparing all the gifts, some for 13 consecutive days.
🙏Thank you to those who contributed remotely, who distributed gifts, who helped with the shopping, or prepared presents in their own home, and to all those who have offered their logistic assistance with all the necessities that entailed throughout this edition.
🙏Thank you to the partner NGOs and companies without whom we would have never managed to distribute all the 5.290 gifts across 13 counties.
Our Big Day Out is an initiative I started 16 years ago, but it no longer is just my own personal project. Instead, Our Big Day Out has become an entire community.
