Pocket is a coming of age film that shows how this generation and more importantly, teenagers stay connected with society and their world. Pocket is not only the title of this film, it’s a word that expresses how these new social platforms and the universe as a whole is changing right in your pocket. This generation makes their phones an extension of who they are… or who they try to be. We use our phones for positive things like education, expressing our creativity, and staying connected to the world. But also for things like faking a personality online, bullying, and shaping a society of senseless anti-social people (as some older people would say). The world is moving to a new place of interaction. In all life before the 21st century, we didn’t have an artificial extension of ourselves in our pockets. We only had each other. The only option was human interaction, or dancing, or going outside of the bubble we have formed around us. This film, I hope, is an eye opener to show how we will be using the device in our pocket to take us into this new era. (LINK IN BIO) OR “GOOGLE POCKET (VIMEO)”

Coming to Aruba since I was born has always been important to me. Reconnecting with my family history and roots and learning more about my families life and culture here is always rewarding. The last photo is my great grandmother and all of her sisters (fathers side). They are from Suriname and came to Aruba. My fathers dad and mom both were born and raised in Aruba and were childhood friends who lived in the same borough. My grandpas family lived here longer in Aruba, while my grandmas family moved from Suriname. Also, the two elderly women you see on my page frequently are my great grandmother and her sister (my great aunt) 🇸🇷
