These last few months have brought up a lot of emotions. Joy and gratitude for health, food and shelter. Frustration and sadness at the unnecessary loss of life. Inspiration and courage from all of those on the frontline fighting to save as much life as possible. I’ve also spent a lot of time reflecting on my personal journey and how it has effected me as a storyteller. What it means to be human and the fragility of life. I know what it’s like to watch your loved one slowly die hooked up to ventilator and hoping for a miracle that never comes. When my mother died a few years ago there was no goodbye, no opportunity to ask questions, she just died suddenly with zero final arrangements made. I can’t help but see parallels between that death and the current reality we’re all living in, except right now we all can do something to give people a fighting chance against this virus and it comes down to super simple things – wearing a mask – washing hands – physical distancing. As repetitive as it may seem, it’s true “We’re all in this together. #motherlessmothersday Virtual quarantine portrait series shot by the talented and wonderful @jennyandersonphoto

1 in 5 women in the United States will die from heart disease. My mother was 1 of them along with being part of the 64% of women who die suddenly of coronary heart disease with no previous symptoms. The grief you will go though in the wake of someone’s death is devastating and even more frustrating when it could have been prevented. I diy’ed this jacket to help raise awareness for #heartmonth and highlight how symptoms of heart disease in women can present very different from men and be easily dismissed. It’s available @greatscott_losangeles and 100% of the profits will be going to @womensheartalliance ❤️
