In the middle of a pandemic we have found each other. Love laces us together while faith mobilises our hearts. Next time, I hope we learn the lessons and avoid the crisis.
These were taken by @ankitchawlaphotography in our Mumbai home. I miss my home. I miss India.
‘There is a reason why those who seem to have have endured the most can be kindest, why those who have lost many things find more and more of themselves….You learn the art of breathing through impermanent pain and you begin to understand others who are feeling the same…’
Paraphrased from the transcendent prose of @yrsadaleyward and my wish for you, on the cusp of my 49th year, is to learn the art of breathing through the impermanence of…everything.
Posting this for the feels ✌️
Posted @withregram • @indiaculturalhub Our Medical fraternity needs the biggest cheer in today’s day and age!
These two medical students from Kerala — Janaki Omkumar and Naveen Razak — are breaking the internet with their electrifying performance to the beats of Boney M’s 1978 hit Euro-disco track ‘Rasputin’.
Here’s celebrating ALL the health care workers who are working tirelessly day in and day out to make a safer world for us💃🥂😃🎉#Culturvation

Hong Kong. Birthday celebrations three years ago. I’ll just leave it at that but to be clear, I’m not sad about our quiet, intimate plans.
STAY HOME EVERYONE. STAY SAFE. MAKING IT COVID FREE TO THE NEXT BIRTHDAY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN BURSTING YOUR BUBBLE ON THIS ONE.
(PS my Burd-day is on the 4th, not today)
When I do a shoot these days days, my posse seems to steal all the thunder as you can see in these #bts by talented Nelson- based photographer @barbarichphoto
Yeah, I know, they are waaaay cuter than I 😜 (including Dadu)
Thanks Bobbi for capturing these savour worthy moments

I love this Persian tradition of making a wish while tying a knot in the grass. Today is the 13th day of Nowruz ; an opportunity to spend the day in nature with the intention to dispel what is burdening you and weighing you down. We started our own family tradition with the crocuses blooming in our front yard. Next year we may celebrate in rice fields and with tender bamboo stalks. The environment will change, while reminding ourselves of our connection and reliance on this glorious planet, well, that will travel with our family wherever we go.
Haruki Murakami please marry me. I’ve asked Jason and he’s okay with it.

Happy Holi everyone!
I have barricaded myself indoors on Holi last few years, but the pandemic, my kids and generalized sentimental longing for India are squeezing my heart in small, deadly seizures.
So stay safe and squirt away- for me ❤️

Posted @withregram • @audible_in Today we’re celebrating the birthday of not just one, but two phenomenal women – Maya Angelou and @lisaraniray – whose powerful words inspire and empower us all.
I love this message and the fact that Close to the Bone continues to find a home on bookshelves and in readers’ hearts ♥️
Most humbling gift I could imagine.

“What do you care about Most? What matters? Pursue that. Forget the rest.”
Lisa Ray’s telling of her journey is done with such intimacy and detail that you can literally visualize the path that she took. From driving along the beaches in Bombay, to walking along the cobble stone roads in Oxford or finding her beautiful haven in Nelson, BC – her story is exquisite.

Imagine impacting our environment while spreading positive vibes. During this difficult time I know a lot of us feel helpless, but here’s a way to celebrate someone you care about and keep the health of our planet on priority 🙏🏼♥️

The season of outdoor reading is finally here in BC 😂 one of my favourite spring activities. Before leaving for Asia, I’ve been immersing myself in some notable Canadian books. #PolarVortex moves at a clip, a feat considering most of the action takes place in a small, northern Canadian town, where Priya has moved with her lesbian partner Alex. But unresolved secrets from her past- in the form of a visit from old flame Prakash – begin to dissemble her compartmentalised present. I also like the acutely observed cultural differences between Priya and Alex. ‘One of the differences between us, Priya, is that your boundaries are far more fluid than mine…you come from a place where family’s need friends are in each other’s lives everyday.’
The Diamond Grill by Fred Wah is a landmark discovery for me, in that I was not familiar with Fred’s acclaimed work as a poet. This gem of a book, spilling over with beautiful prose, recipes, character sketches and anthropological musings as well as a portrait of his mixed heritage (Chinese- Scandinavian) centres around the Diamond Grill which was the most modern Chinese cafe in Nelson BC in 1951. Its thrilling to read decades old accounts of Baker Street where I stroll every day, but Fred is also unsparing in cataloging the taunts, prejudices and racism he and his family encountered. I was not aware that Chinese immigrants were subject to a head tax if they wished to work and live in Canada, while their wives and indeed all women from mainland China were banned. While it’s exhilarating to acknowledge how far we have evolved, progress is not without pain, indignities and untold stories of suffering. So important to reclaim and acknowledge Canada’s chequered human rights history. Thank you @anjmathias for introducing me to Fred’s work.
