Some of the folks that have taken the brunt of my bipolar have been my best friends. Certainly my family too, but my friends… ooof. They didn’t know what they were signing up for when I imprinted on them. I’ve lost a handful of friends, where there was/is love, because they needed to set boundaries. I honor that. Let’s give it up for boundaries 👏👏👏
To be close to a person dealing with mental illness is to be subject to their spikes in joy, energy, rage, defensiveness (that’s a tough one for me still) FUN crazy and CRAZY crazy😜 and also the plummets of despair, lack of energy, self hate, avoidance, disconnection and all around the unknowing of what to expect. Not to be too specific or anything…🤣😂💋
Those friends who are still around? Wow. There are not enough gratitude notebooks in the world to express my thanks. They have listened as I’ve tried to take responsibility (often imperfectly) for my actions and outbursts and called me out when I’m not doing so great. I mean they LITERALLY call me on the phone and say “Ness… the f%^#* is going on?”😂 they’re a good bunch.

The point is, you can’t go at this alone. There are good days and really bad days, still. But I’m a part of a good army. You have that too. As low as you might feel. As isolated as you might feel at this moment. As hopeless as things have looked recently. Know that there is someone out there feeling the same exact way. And we/I am out here championing you to love yourself relentlessly and fearlessly.
You are never alone. Now go drink some water. Listen to @womenontopofficial Call another human being. Offer to be of service. And know that I love you. ❤️
