For the first time in history, people aged over 65 will outnumber those under 5. By 2030, 1 in 8 humans will be over-65 (thats 1 billion people). This has brought about unprecedented pressure on family structures, leading to alarming increases in elderly isolation and demands of family carers. We know families all want to treat grandparents with the love and attention they deserve. But making time can be so hard in todayās world, what with all the distractions and competition for our attention. If we needed any more encouragement… When we help our grandparents, we help ourselves too. Many family carers can all too easily get caught in a cycle of resentment and guilt ā resentful that their life is no longer their own, and guilty for feeling like this. This can manifest into everyday stress and in some cases, serious depression. Bottom line… We can, and should, all do more for our elderly loved ones. That is where the incredible @keepmepostedltd comes in! They help elderly loved ones connect more meaningfully, more of the time, with more of the family! @keepmepostedltd is an affordable subscription product that makes it easy for families to show up for their elderly loved ones. āYou show the love, we do the restā. Their digital to physical product makes it easy for families to show up for elderly loved ones around their busy schedules in a medium that grandparents all love ā good old- fashioned picture post cards. Through @keepmepostedltd ās digital platform, families rally and collaborate to create weekly digital picture post cards for elderly loved ones. Through physical albums and weekly picture postcards, they help the family communicate using a medium that inherently shows care and warmth. Grandparents add to their memory album on a weekly basis as they receive cards from family ā helping them stay in the loop and building lasting memories with the rest of the family. Crisis UK Reg Charity E&W1082947, SC040094 Last week schools celebrated #Anti-bullyingWeek and to mark this awareness week @goodthinkinguk ās very own Clinical Director and Psychiatrist Dr Richard Graham interviewed Alex Holmes, Deputy CEO of The Diana Award and myself. āThe most accurate definition that I’ve come to know regarding bullying and indeed kind of separating it from banter has come about through, you know, knowing you Alex, and the work that I’ve sort of witnessed from the anti-bullying programme. I can recall an event where the definitions were outlined and it was under the banner of discussing the importance of language and the fact that the definition actually does matter. So there are two things that are misconstrued, obviously at school you want kids to be able to share a joke with one another. You don’t want to eliminate good, healthy, fun dialogue, whatsoever, but at the point that it becomes something that makes someone feel uncomfortable or disrespected or hurt in any way. Then it’s about re-addressing that behaviour and thinking quite carefully about the danger of repeating it.ā Listen to the full podcast (link in bio) https://soundcloud.com/user-95072702-837482268/good-thinking-episode-26-alex-holmes-and-will-poulter Photo Credits @boysbygirls @jadesm1th #antibullyingweek #unitedagainstbullying Today is International Womenās Day 2021 #internationalwomensday Please consider supporting @thewomensassociation founded by @deborahbwilliams_ In Deborahās own words: āI set up The Womenās Association to support and empower women to be their authentic selves whilst challenging mindsets, cultures and frameworks that make women and girls feel like they have to be anything other than themselves to thrive.ā Please follow the link below (in bio also) to register your interest in some of their initiatives such as individual or corporate membership, the schools club, āThe Executive Challengeā and the āFor The Womanā campaign. You may already know him as @cheerupcharlie__ Throughout anti-bullying week, Charlie has continued to spread his message that bullying of any kind, to any person, on any basis, is wrong. Charlie has bravely shared his personal experience of bullying, simply for loving the performing arts. What better way to spread his message as an anti-bullying ambassador than to create a charity single featuring other artists and ambassadors to raise money for @antibullyingpro The average young person spends 11,000 hours in education. Bullying is not something young people should have to endure as part of their school experience. Itās not a character building exercise and there should be a zero tolerance for bullying in every walk of life. School should be a safe and happy place, FREE from bullying. By buying this song, you will be donating towards a cause dedicated to making school life happier for young people all over the country and beyond! The donations will help provide resources and the necessary training to make sure schools are developing a culture of anti-bullying and that young people who are victims of bullying have the support they need. Having witnessed inexplicable horrors as a child, Rosca and some of his siblings ended up without parents, moving from camp to camp within the refugee system, both in Africa and then in the UK. Two of his siblings tragically perished in unimaginable circumstances. His passion for music started in the refugee camps, where he would turn empty flour buckets upside down and drift away to another beat and another world in his headā¦ the now-named āRoscaās Worldā. Remembering Jack, Rosca expressed from the heart: āI met Jack when I was in HM Prison Grendon, an amazing therapeutic prison that helped me to view life in a different way. When I came to the UK, I was nine; I had experienced so much terror in my short lifetime and had no emotional or life parachute. I didnāt have people around me I could trust. I ended up in prison because I got involved with a local gang ā they made me feel like I belonged by night while I was being bullied at school by day. Whilst I deeply regret and now take ownership of my actions, I never would have met Jack otherwise.
